We're just two games in, but there are plenty of players who are stepping up. While rankings don't update again until after the season, we update players on the back end of the site all the time. One of the most intriguing battles within the rankings is that of the 2027 quarterbacks, so here we're doing a quick pulse check on some of the guys in our rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='1308876' first='Troy' last='Logan'], Charlotte Latin

Logan is currently on our watch list but will be moved into the rankings in December. While he's played one more game than many across the state, his place in first among North Carolina passers in yardage is a testament to his talent. Through three games, he's thrown seven touchdowns and just one interception, an area in which he struggled in his limited action last year. Charlotte Latin is 3-0 after a close win over Metrolina Christian and Logan has had a great start to this young season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1420953' first='Keenan' last='Sullivan'], Porter Ridge

Sullivan hasn't had any eye-popping stat lines through two games, but he's limited the mistakes and delivered catchable balls to his receivers when asked to air it out. He's started with a 4-to-0 touchdown-to-interception ratio and hes added 67 yards and a score on the ground. As a sophomore, he's doing exactly what he's been asked to do.

[player_tooltip player_id='1798091' first='Parker' last='Frashier'], Union Academy

Frashier has made the most of his opportunity as a starter, making quick decisions and delivering the ball with accuracy. He's not the biggest guy, but he moves well in the pocket and knows when to take off for a few yards when there's an opening. Frashier is completing 70% of his passes without an interception so far.

2027 Ranked QB Check-In

[player_tooltip player_id='1135515' first='Koby' last='Howard'], Harnett Central

Howard is making some really quick decisions and accurate throws. He's averaged nearly 300 yards a game and his film has been great. He's not over-thinking things, rather, he's hitting the top of his drop and letting the ball go, allowing his receivers to make plays. He's thrown eight touchdowns in two games, which seems pretty great to me.

[player_tooltip player_id='915835' first='Jared' last='Street'], West Cabarrus

Street has taken a step forward this year from the limited film we've seen. His footwork has improved and his arm strength is noticeably better as well. He's still a great athlete who can take off and create with his legs, but he's gotten a bit more accurate and has so far protected the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1030649' first='Ge'arey' last='Johnson'], Mt. Zion

Johnson struggled a bit in Week 2 against powerhouse Hickory Christian, but was great in Week 1, averging almost 15 yards an attempt. He's become more consistent this season, and he's used his legs more sparingly, but to greater effect than during his freshman year. He has all the tools, so we're paying attention to how he continues to develop.
