GRAND FORKS-- We finish up our outstanding summer of prospect camps at the North Dakota Flagship Camp from a couple weeks back. I loved what I saw in the first session, which was the offensive line and defensive line groups as there was plenty of college-level talent flying around the trenches for us to watch in Grand Forks. We kick it off with the first 12 standouts that made this group so sound for the next-level.

The first 2025 defensive linemen that appeared in my notebook from Grand Forks was Richfield (MN)'s [player_tooltip player_id='1120579' first='Spencer' last='Lewis']. He caught my eyes with his explosiveness for his size, testing in one of the top tiers amongst defensive linemen with his triple jump. Later into Indy drills, Spencer showed off excellent suddenness with his footwork as there was plenty of fluidity with this young man's athletic movement. He ended his live-eval later during 1v1s by checking my boxes with his hands and vision, showing off an excellent inside move that certainly caught those college coaches in attendance attention. I'll be intrigued to see where this young man lands, as he has several NSIC offers and from what I saw could grasp a late Missouri Valley PWO in my eyes.

We have been barking at the chain for [player_tooltip player_id='1112591' first='Aiden' last='Wunderlich'] of Central Cass for a while in the 2026 class and it paid off after his camp performance at the UND Flagship Camp. Each time I have gotten the chance to watch Aiden, he has grown with his technique especially with his hand positioning. I also had noted in my notebook at UND, that Aiden has gotten more balanced with his footwork as I saw less over-striding during his outing in Grand Forks. Aiden walked out with the Division I first offer we have seen to this North Dakota 2026 class as the Prep Redzone Dakotas Combine alum, showed off what the Fighting Hawks staff wanted to see a few Tuesdays ago.

[player_tooltip player_id='1582466' first='Heaton' last='Hall'], OL, Moorhead, MN 2025 Twitter

Talk about a young man that flashed off the eye test extremely quickly as the 6'6 255 pounder from Moorhead also had some skillsets that popped out to me at the UND Flagship camp too. For his size, I felt that he was more explosive during the testing session than I was expecting and with his athletic movement there was certainly some instinct present that contributes to Heaton's upside that is probably upcoming. Heaton also showed off a promising first step and his technique deeper into camp also showed off some raw skillsets that I know any NSIC or scholarship level program would love to groom in the coming years. We will have to see what Heaton's senior tape brings to the table, but the live-eval screamed at the next-level upside I like.

A 2025 defensive line sleeper in my eyes at the UND Flagship Camp was [player_tooltip player_id='1191520' first='Aidan' last='Adamski'] of Hermantown as I have notes all over my notebook regarding what this young man brought to the table in Grand Forks. He showed off an almost ideal match with his posted measurables to what was out there at camp, and with that nearly 6'3 235 pound size the explosiveness I saw from Aidan was well-versed with his triple jump. I loved watching what I saw out of Aidan in Indy drills, as his punch he showed off landed with pinpoint accuracy on his man on multiple occasions and his attention to detail from coaching from the UND coaching staff was well-noticed in my eyes. He showed up too in 1v1s showing off instincts with his shedding ability and the physical nature of his his pull offs were fun as heck to watch in person. I am certainly very surprised this young man does not have an offer yet in the NSIC, as the 6'6 wingspan, 4.6s pro agility, and 9'0 broad jump at his size are also intriguing for Aidan as a college prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='945911' first='Evan' last='McCarty'], OL, Wayzata, MN 2025 Twitter

The newest SDSU commit had a excellent day at the second UND Flagship Camp a couple Tuesdays back. Evan showed off very explosive hips from what I grasped during the testing session and watching that translation to what he shows off on tape shows off a vicious first step that constantly gets to the second level which was seen too during 1v1s in Grand Forks. Evan also shows off an eye-catching bend for his 6'5 250 pound frame that shows off pure athleticism prior to getting to the point of attack with his long base. Even though Evan contributes well on both sides of the ball, I see exactly what the SDSU coaching staff sees from this young man with having a higher upside in the offensive trenches.

Haven is a 2025 defensive linemen out of Montana that I feel has popped out at early every camp I have been attendance in the Dakotas this summer and that was the case at the UND Flagship Camp too. I felt since May, Haven has gotten even lighter on his feet and his numbers I have gotten have improved due to that plus his development with college coaching staffs this summer. He also looked more polished from summer start to end with the strength he showed off with his hands as in 1v1s, I felt Haven has gotten more fluid physicality with the reps I caught from the UND Flagship Camp. This young man has caught more attention offer wise in the NSIC since my last live-eval, but still is a Montana prospect that is flying way under the radar in this region.

Carter Drake-Metzger, DL, Wilton, IA 2025 Twitter

Carter was a 2025 defensive linemen that for the duration I watched his footwork, I saw plenty of fluidity that struck a chord in my eyes. He also showed off solid hands from the reps I got to watch as I liked the upside that comes with Carter with the timing of when he releases his hands that a college program can groom even further. I could also tell that Carter is a DL prospect that plays with a churning motor that has some position flexibility that a college program can work with positionally. Best fit for Carter in my eyes shows Carter as a defensive tackle at the next-level as he has the pressing hands to be a problem in the middle of the defensive trenches.

Alex Pitman, DL, New Salem-Almont, ND 2023

One of the most interesting prospects on this list is former New Salem-Almont 2023 defensive linemen Alex Pitman. Alex graduated in 2023 from NLS, but has grown out his frame since then, as he checked in at nearly 6'2 223 pounds and was a prospect that honestly, despite being out of the game for a couple years certainly had the skillsets I saw to contribute on a college football roster somewhere. What were the those skillsets? Alex was one that hit on with my eye test for his size and showed off a good football IQ with the use of his hands in the Indy reps I got to watch. Posted good physicality on contact too. Cannot find this young man on social media, but to those college coaches out there, he would be a good raw talent to groom that could be a small school scholarship fit in my eyes.

Brady was a name I had pre-circled prior to camp as a Minnesota offensive linemen I needed to watch and one that I thought looked solid with a live-eval. Brady showed off consistent balanced footwork that impressed in his 6'2 nearly 300 pound frame. Brady also showed off sound amounts of explosive hips with the first fire out of his stance as his foot speed got to the point of attack quicker than I was anticipating which was great to see. Brady also showed off the blue-collar demeanor I want out of my offensive linemen in Grand Forks and flashed great character too, as a OL prospect that you can quickly gauge has great love for the game. Quite surprised by the lack of NSIC schools in the mix, but I could see that changing with a great senior season for Brady for sure.

As someone that calls the 763 area code home, I always keep tabs at camps on prospects from my area that standout at camps, which was the case yet again this summer with [player_tooltip player_id='1118428' first='Charlie' last='Olson'] of Elk River. Each and every camp I have watched Charlie, I have seen improvement with his pad-level which was the biggest chord he struck with his Indy reps at the UND Flagship Camp. I also felt Charlie has developed quicker timing throughout the summer with how quick his hands get off on his sheds as although I didn't have a timer, the instinct alone from Charlie has grown with that well-grown football IQ he is continuing to develop. He is one that I feel could make a significant recruiting splash in the first three weeks of the 2024 season, as I certainly feel Charlie has developed swiftly this summer with his attention to detail.

A 2027 defensive line prospect that has grown out a ton with his frame and skillsets is Minot North's [player_tooltip player_id='1113076' first='Ethan' last='Howey']. Since last winter's Prep Redzone Dakotas Combine in Jamestown, Ethan has gotten longer, more agile, and has become a workhorse with his hands. I was intrigued in 1v1s with how fiery Ethan appeared to be with his first step and felt that his pad-level has improved immensely since last Winter. Ethan also has some great upside incoming with his footwork, as even from camp start to finish in Grand Forks, he got more fluid and there is even more wiggle room to keep developing as the 2024 season. I have no doubt by next update, that this young man will be in our top five prospects in the North Dakota 2027 class, as Ethan is only going to keep getting stronger in the weight room for sure.

Our DL2 in South Dakota's 2026 class [player_tooltip player_id='1103576' first='Karter' last='Moody'] of Groton, has been a camp warrior all summer long, and has continued to develop his craft camp after camp. What has improved since the last camp I saw Karter at? I felt in Grand Forks that Karter has gotten even more fluid with how wirey his hands are and I feel his hand positioning has improved to give him the best angle to get off his blocks to run more freely towards the ball carrier. The versatile technique Karter has developed has also flourished during camp season as I feel whichever direction he takes to the ball carrier has certainly seen his instincts grow from start camp season to the end of camp season. I certainly believe Karter will be an early offer coming out of this South Dakota 2026 class in the defensive trenches as I would label him a overall stockriser in his class.
