We're still in the early stages of the evaluation process for the 2027 class, but we've had several players rise up our boards. The wide receiver position is interesting because often players can crack the rotation early in there careers, leading to a lot of young prospects in our database. Here are a few stock-risers at the wide receiver position in the class of 2027.

2027 Wide Receiver Stock-Risers

Providence likes to use Johnson as a big slot receiver, especially in four-wide sets, so it isn't surprising that he's done most of his damage over the middle. He displays good hands and the ability to outrun people after the catch. Those two skills allow him to work both underneath and over the top of coverage. He wasn't asked to do much as a route-runner last season, but he was still extremely effective as a freshman.

Dillon tracks the ball extremely well, especially on deep throws and that allows him to make catches outside his frame or on balls that are a little bit off target. He has urgency on deep throws and crossing patterns, and has the speed to run by defensive backs. I'd like to see him disguise his route-running a bit more as he can be apprehensive on routes that involve cuts or change-of-direction, but as a rising sophomore, he has plenty of time to learn the nuances of the receiver position.

Despite being under six feet (at this moment, he's still growing) Saunders is one of the high-pointers of the football in the class. His explosive athleticism (broad jump, vertical, etc.) is off the charts and he and Southeast Raleigh are able to use that. He's more quick than fast, but has good footwork and is able to use that to both create separation and make people miss after the catch. I'd like to see a bit more variety in his release package, but this early in the cycle, it's clear he has the ability to be a top receiver in the class.

Mosley is one of the better route runners I've ever seen at his age and he's able to use his suddenness and change-of-direction to make defenders look silly, even before he receives the ball. It's common to see defenders slipping or falling out of the play when he runs routes on them and that isn't limited to before the catch. He's not the biggest guy, but he's slippery after the catch. His skillset is unique, which is what makes him so fun to watch.

Other 2027 Wide Receivers On Our Radar

Since the 2027 class is so new, we had many more new additions than stock-risers, but here are a few guys we've recently evaluated who are candidates to move up in the next rankings update:

[player_tooltip player_id='1154024' first='Majay' last='Thompson'], Shelby
[player_tooltip player_id='1395227' first='Rakem' last='Hammock'], Northwest
[player_tooltip player_id='1395229' first='Christian' last='Coleman'], West Charlotte
[player_tooltip player_id='1192754' first='Caden' last='Jones'], Rolesville
[player_tooltip player_id='1309290' first='Levi' last='Archible'], Garnet Magnet
[player_tooltip player_id='772937' first='Brian' last='Willoughby'], Hough
[player_tooltip player_id='1252937' first='Kayden' last='Bradsher'], Orange

The wide receiver position is interesting because often players can crack the rotation early in there careers, leading to a lot of young prospects in our database.
