He checks into our rankings as the number two receiver across Idaho, and should be able to find a home at the next level, especially with his growth potential and size/length. On film, he shows he can run both vertical and across the field, can settle in zone coverage while able to get off press at the LOS and use his big frame to box out smaller corners. Although a bit under sized, he's extremely tough to bring down in the open field and has good short area twitch with the ability to make defenders miss in space and force bad angles on the edge. He is a diverse route runner that has strong hands in traffic and impressive tracking abilities over the top while also extremely dangerous after the catch. He is a very smooth athlete that can play either in the slot or on the outside, and is a mismatch nightmare wherever he lines up for Lakeland. Benson shows he can get off press coverage, get in defenders blind spots and does a nice job at stemming his routes downfield while showing consistent hands. He is a still raw and developing prospect, but has immense strength at the POA, heavy hands with a consistent lockout, and shows he is athletic enough both to two gap, and eat up double teams while providing position versatility along both the interior defensive line and on the edge. Taking over that number four spot in our ranks for his position, he has outstanding instincts, ball skills and is a high IQ player on defense with a quick trigger and balanced cover/tackling abilities both in space and in traffic.
