Getting ready to shine as a dual-threat quarterback is a time-consuming process. Particularly if you are competing to be an elite quarterback. The grind never ends.

In between the other sports, there is the usual off-season team training, that usually includes a good balance of weight training, speed work, cardio, skill set fine-tuning, play timing, execution focus and gelling with teammates.

And, as competitive as the landscape is these days, many rising-star quarterbacks are also selecting specific camps and clinics to hone their assets and get a feel for the competition. Additionally, many work with QB Specialists and consultants who help fine-tune lower-body mechanics and tighten up the throwing motion.

In today's report we will take a look at five elite-level quarterbacks from a mix of small and large schools who have been hard at it in the off-season getting ready for their last hurrah. With a successful junior season under their belts and another productive off-season closing quickly, these guys have pulled out all the stops and are getting ready to take off.

So, without further adieu, I bring you the “Weekend Five”:

[player_tooltip player_id='350827' first='Logan' last='Morley'] , 6'1, 185, Shawnee Mission Northwest. He is an athletic dual-threat QB that I have been following closely since late last year. He has been working hard in the off-season with Coach Collins, @coachcollinscj, going through a wide range of quarterback training and doing it when the field was covered with snow and in the driving rain. He has impressive passing mechanics, throws a beautiful ball and appears to be peaking at the right time. Besides working with Coach Collins and receiver Dom Brown, he has hit it hard in the SMNW off-season program and was able to fit in the Varsity Combine and Pitt State camps. He has also crushed it in the weight room and his 40 time is down to 4.6. As Coach Cook, @CoachCookNW, would say, "Rise and Grind, it's a great day to be great!" and he is off and running to be just that. Get him on your watchlist and definitely make the time to see him air it out this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1112371' first='Jack' last='Gordon'] , 5'11, 185, Salina Central. Another stud dual-threat QB and standout baseball player who is coming off a breakout year when he accumulated 2,300 total yards and 29 touchdowns in only eight games. His 243 passing yards per game average was in the top three in the state for returning QB's. He is a multi-sport athlete who stepped up to the challenge a year ago and ended up being one of the top QB's in the state. This past off-season he was able to regularly get together with a trio of pass catchers, Tate Gary and Gannon Cole, wide receivers; and rising star, TE [player_tooltip player_id='866495' first='Tyrus' last='Young'], to make sure they are all in lock step and ready to go off this fall. He has also hit it hard in the team's off-season training program and getting in his speed work. Get out and see a master at his craft this fall. You will not be disappointed.

[player_tooltip player_id='1214913' first='Brady' last='Brack'] , 6'5, 215, Garden Plain. Another versatile, dual-threat QB who was honorable mention all state last year and is starting to generate next-level interest from colleges. He didn't get to throw as much in the run-heavy Garden Plain offense but when he did he was very effective, firing 10 TD passes to only one pick, with a QBR of 129. He has a next-level frame, with good play action mechanics and his accuracy and ball placement are excellent. He has been busy in the off-season and demonstrated early on he was ready for a banner year when he took MVP honors at the You Are Athlete Camp in KC. He has been working almost daily with Seth Dugan, Max McGregor, Pete Mcgregor, and Cooper Scheer this summer, fine-tuning timing and execution. He is getting ready to put on a show this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='716132' first='Eli' last='Jones'] , 6'2, 205, Norton. He is coming off a dazzling junior season as one of the most productive quarterbacks in the state, running and passing for 3,137 yards and 38 touchdowns. He has been working closely with standout receiver , [player_tooltip player_id='1115036' first='Tyce' last='Melvin'] , on timing routes and fine-tuning the fall connection. He has also been hard at it in the weight room, posting new PR's in the major lifts and diligently conducting his speed work. He was also able to shoehorn in camps at Fort Hays State and the K-State Specialists Camp, where he focused on his punting skills; and also led his teammates on a team camp in Kearney, Nebraska. This guy is the real deal and is going to dominate the competition this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='868977' first='Keveon' last='Ruiz'] , 6'2, 190, Medicine Lodge. Coming off an outstanding junior season when he was a first team all state QB after piling up just under 2,500 total yards and running and passing for 27 touchdowns. He is an athletic, dual-threat on offense who can beat you with his arm or his legs. He has been busy in the off-season as a standout in multiple sports while still training for an encore senior season. In addition to bumping his PR's in all the major lifts and concentrating on his speed work, he has been focusing on his quarterback mechanics, with emphasis on a tight shoulder rotation and quick release. When he wasn't working out with teammate and running back, [player_tooltip player_id='1662480' first='Braxx' last='Farr'], he hit a number of camps, including the mega camp at Kansas State. Get your popcorn out for this guy, he's getting ready to put on a show.

In conclusion, get these guys on your watchlist and get out and see them if at all possible. And, as always, if you know of anyone “flying under the radar” feel free to reach out to @CoolDaddyO via DM on X.
