[player_tooltip player_id='368928' first='Zach' last='Thompson'] has a dangerous blend of speed, power, and vision that make life hard for every defensive coordinator that has to gameplan for him. At 6'1" and 185 lbs, Thompson can both power through defenders or make them miss with his impressive agility. Once he makes it past the second level of the defense, the chances of him not making it into the endzone get pretty slim. As a pass catcher, he's shown that he has reliable hands. Though he doesn't run the crispest of routes, what he can do after the catch makes him someone the defense has to focus on. Coming off a junior year where he found the endzone 12 times (11 rushing and one receiving), Thompson is going to make a big impact on Gilbert's offense in 2024.

[player_tooltip player_id='1145526' first='Kanton' last='Turley'] may not be the shiftiest back, but his strong base and remarkable balance make it seem like no one is able to bring him to the ground on their own. He does a great job of protecting the football while he barrels through the heart of the trenches. Keeping his speed the whole way through, he makes sure that his momentum makes it hard for any of the big linemen to get a grip on him. Turley's ability to make defenders miss, despite not being the most agile, is a true estimate of his vision. Even as he's making a move on a defender, you can see him thinking about his next options afterward. Averaging over seven yards a carry as a junior, Turley's in line for a massive senior season.

Likely to be atop Saguaro's RB depth chart this season, [player_tooltip player_id='368980' first='Elias' last='Johnson'] is a player with incredible burst that can swing the momentum of a game on any single play. Last year he played defense and put up 8.5 TFL and 6.5 sacks, showing just how versatile he is as an athlete. Purely as a running back, look no further than his last time as RB1 with Tempe where, as a sophomore, he averaged over 145 rushing yards a game and finished the season averaging 174.9 all-purpose yards. With lightning-quick feet (that he's been making even quicker through the offseason) he can make defenders miss with ease. Don't let the quick feet fool you though, he has no problem lowering his shoulder or delivering a mean stiff arm to get defenders out of his way. Taking over on a big stage for Saguaro, Johnson is a player coaches should be watching closely through his senior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1145573' first='Jacob' last='Newborn'] is a real workhorse in the backfield for Pusch Ridge. Getting to over 100 rushing yards in all but two games that he played in, I was shocked to learn this was his first year at the position. Whether it was getting nearly 150 yards on just four carries or getting 101 yards on 21 carries, Newborn would do whatever was asked of him. He's got some decent speed and becomes really dangerous once he's able to get the corner. Though he was only able to find the endzone just twice on the ground last season, I'd expect that number to take a big jump in his final year of high school football.

[player_tooltip player_id='1145586' first='Malik' last='Smith'] has the power that you'd expect from someone who's 6'1" and 180 lbs while being able to move very smoothly out on the field. After just a few plays, linebackers are going to be thinking twice about stepping into the hole with this guy coming at them. He seems to almost look for contact at times, likely as an intimidation tactic. It works too; Smith's brings some serious pop when he lowers his shoulder. It's not just the strength that gets to defenses though. When he gets an open patch of green grass in front of him, there aren't many players who are able to catch him and his long strides. Averaging just under 12 carries per game last season, Smith is set to be an integral part of Florence's offense as they aim to surpass the 8-3 record they posted in 2023.
