The shifty back also happens to be a smart back who understands how to attack coverage when going out for a pass and pick up blitzes when tasked with giving his quarterback more time. Johnson is a player whose recruitment could really pick up here as he works through the back half of his senior season.

Last year he played defense and put up 8.5 TFL and 6.5 sacks, showing just how versatile he is as an athlete. Purely as a running back, look no further than his last time as RB1 with Tempe where, as a sophomore, he averaged over 145 rushing yards a game and finished the season averaging 174.9 all-purpose yards. With lightning-quick feet (that he’s been making even quicker through the offseason) he can make defenders miss with ease. Don’t let the quick feet fool you though, he has no problem lowering his shoulder or delivering a mean stiff arm to get defenders out of his way. Taking over on a big stage for Saguaro, Johnson is a player coaches should be watching closely through his senior year.
