The 2027 rankings have made their long-awaited debut with an initial list of the Top 60 rising sophomores in West Virginia. While these rankings will greatly change over the next three years as more athletes emerge and more information and film becomes available, these are the 2027 prospects who have proven to be some of the best at this time. Here are the 51-60 ranked prospects in the 2027 class in our eyes at this early stage.

A fun young player who really caught our eye when searching for 2027 prospects was Martinsburg LB [player_tooltip player_id='1155292' first='Hiam' last='Alvira']. Alvira is just a playmaker on both sides of the ball and was always around the ball in the highlights we were able to watch. He picked off several passes as a linebacker in his available film and put himself in good positions to make a play. Alvira did a nice job reading plays and showed good pursuit speed when closing on passes and on ball carriers. From his fullback film, Alvira is also a very physical player and punishing blocker who has the athleticism to carry the ball on offense and leak out for a pass.

Alvira appears to have a natural feel for the game and if he continues to get bigger than his listed 5'9 175 size, he'll have a high ceiling as a prospect.

The Washington Patriots have a very promising 2027 class coming up through the ranks and that continues with WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1170039' first='Kenyon' last='Brooks']. Brooks is another quick and shifty slot type of receiver who should have a varsity role as a sophomore this season on both sides of the ball. Game film is limited of Brooks right now to evaluate, but from watching some clips on his social media, he has good footwork for his age and fluid hips in his route breaks that will allow him to develop into a deadly route runner in time. Brooks also has some twitch in his game and can shake defenders in the open field with serious YAC potential.

We expect to learn more about Brooks this season with expanded game film to watch and believe he's a high-ceiling WR prospect in the 2027 class.

We got eyes on 2027 East Fairmont OL [player_tooltip player_id='1154942' first='Chris' last='Garlow'] at our Combine event back in May and believe he'll develop into one of the more notable big men in this class over time. Garlow was a varsity contributor as a freshman and has potential as a defensive line prospect as well who could one day flip to that side of the ball in our rankings. He has good early size at 6'2 270 which makes him ideal to slide inside to guard on offense and interior DL on defense with film at offensive tackle as a freshman. Although just a two-game sample size of highlights is available right now, Garlow flashed a physical level of play with some nastiness in his game.

Garlow is another prospect that we'll learn more about through the years to determine his ceiling as a prospect, but the early signs and potential are there to warrant a high ranking at this time.

The Tug Valley Panthers have a very good trio of 2027 prospects to watch over the next three years which includes WR [player_tooltip player_id='1145831' first='Cameron' last='Slone']. Slone led the Panthers in receiving as a freshman last season with 35 receptions for 475 yards and 10 touchdowns at the small school level. He's a quality overall athlete with a basketball background as well as natural athleticism for a young player. Slone moved fluidly as a freshman and had good body control during his routes when tracking and adjusting to passes. Slone has a quick release with the speed and agility to create separation during his routes and the playmaking ability after the catch as well. He can be a threat in the passing game at all three levels of the route tree and one of the more complete receivers in this class at this early stage.

We try not to overlook small school players at PRZ WV and will be following Slone closely to make sure we have him ranked properly through the years even at the Class A level.

A freshman varsity starter for the Maroon Knights last season, 2027 Wheeling Central DL [player_tooltip player_id='1155194' first='Dominic' last='Asbury'] is one of the few defensive linemen in this class to stand out early on. Asbury was the third-leading tackler in 2023 with 51 total and 3 TFLs as an interior defensive lineman. His size will be his biggest area to follow over the next three years which will determine his ceiling as a prospect, but the other traits Asbury put on film warranted a Top 60 ranking at this time. Asbury has good short-area quickness and a high motor that allowed him to be a team leader in tackles as a freshman from a difficult position to do so. He played fast for his age and showed violent hands at the point of attack. Asbury will improve in all areas once he gets more weight behind him to hold up better against bigger offensive lines.

Asbury's style of play and high effort were notable when evaluating his film and gives him a great base to build on if he can keep growing physically.

2027 University OL [player_tooltip player_id='1260057' first='Jack' last='Gamble'] was one of many PRZ WV Combine participants that we got to see in person earlier this year and now ranks among the 60 best rising sophomores at this early stage. Size will be his biggest trait that will determine his ceiling as a prospect but looks good in other aspects that got him ranked highly. Gamble saw varsity action as a freshman for the Hawks and should be a starter as a sophomore along the offensive line. He's a strong young athlete with quality athleticism and footowkr for his age who just needs to keep getting bigger to raise his potential as a college prospect. We could see him developing into a devastating pulling guard with his skillset and physicality. Gamble is a powerful and stout athlete for his age with a strong punch and heavy hands.

Yet another PRZ WV Combine camper that we got to see in person and now debuts in the Top 60 is 2027 Jefferson defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='894658' first='Noah' last='Hockman']. Hockman is just a massive young athlete and a legit 6'4 250 who may one day rank much higher once we see some game film from him. This is a pure projection ranking for Hoffman at his time without any said game film to evaluate at this time, but getting to see him in person allowed us to place him inside of the 2027 rankings. He has a high ceiling as a prospect given his early elite size and had quality testing numbers at the Combine for his age and size that he can further improve on.

Bridgeport 2027 RB/LB [player_tooltip player_id='1154891' first='Gabe' last='Martin'] is a young prospect that we are high on that not many others may know yet and has some of the more underrated film in this class early on. Martin should be a perfect fit in the Indians' varsity Single-Wing offense in the future as one of their backs but debuts as a linebacker in the 2027 rankings. He'll need to keep getting bigger to maximize his potential as a prospect, but Martin's style of play is advanced for his age. He has good speed that was lamented from his running back film and flies around on defense as an outside linebacker. Martin does a great job disengaging from blockers and fighting to the ball carrier. He has the athleticism to run down ball carriers from behind and plays well in space with the physicality to be stout near the line of scrimmage.

Martin looks like another future big-time player for the Indians who has been developed in the Bridgeport Football factory that is churning out tough, physical playmakers.

2027 Wahama ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1155319' first='Trace' last='Simpkins'] appears to be in line to be the White Falcons' starting quarterback in 2024 with real potential as DB prospect too. For now, Simpkins will debut as an ATH in our 2027 rankings as a talented two-way player who should have a breakout sophomore season on the offensive side of the ball this year. He's an athletic young player who didn't play like a first-year DB last season with 81 tackles and 4 interceptions. Simpkins played the ball very well as a freshman corner/safety last season and didn't shy away from contact or any hesitancy to attempt a PBU. He has very good pursuit speed and plays well in man coverage and in space for his age. Simpkins is also good in run support as a smaller DB which is evident by is total number of tackles.

If he can keep getting bigger, Simpkins can develop into a scholarship-level prospect by the time he's a senior.

2027 Tug Valley QB [player_tooltip player_id='1154693' first='Preston' last='May'] completes our trio of young Panthers inside of our debut Top 60 rankings and produced a very good freshman season under center. Although his season was cut short due to injury, May was still able to put up some big numbers in his first season at the high school level with 1,100 passing yards and 20 touchdowns to just 3 interceptions. May was a PRZ WV Combine participant this year and rounds out our 2027 Top 60 as the #8 quarterback in the class at this early stage. May will need to continue to grow to significantly raise his ceiling as a prospect but commanded the Tug Valley offense well for a freshman when healthy. An increase in size and strength will benefit his game and durability with an already established floor that is solid for his age. May has a quick release and throws a pretty ball with accuracy and touch highlighted by his 61% completion rate as a freshman. He executed an RPO offense well and is very good in the short and intermediate passing game with potential on deep balls as he gets bigger and stronger. Ball velocity will also increase with added size and strength and will take his game to a new level.

If May is able to keep growing his potential as a prospect will skyrocket with obvious talent already established.
