As we continue our series in breaking down all of the ranked players in the 2027 class, we've come to the defensive line. While we at Prep Redzone do not differentiate between interior linemen and edge rushers when it comes to our rankings, we obviously pay attention to the differences on film. So, here are all of the ranked edge rushers in the 2027 class.

Which 2027 Edge Rushers are Ranked?

[player_tooltip player_id='1029786' first='Griff' last='Galloway'], 6'3 240, Providence Day

Galloway is currently the top-ranked edge rusher and overall player in the state for the class of 2027. He has great hand usage and can get into the backfield in a hurry. His body is still developing, so he has the potential to have elite size and speed in the future as he continues to grow.

[player_tooltip player_id='1158999' first='Markez' last='Wilbert'], 6' 240, Wake Forest

Wilbert has excellent balance and bend around the edge as a 3-4 defensive end, where he's also decent against the run. Depending on how his body develops, he's set up nicely to become a pure 4-3 defensive end with high-end pass-rushing ability. He had solid numbers as a freshman, putting up 56 tackles in 12 games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1106602' first='Judah' last='Harris'], 6'1 225, Hunt

Given that he's a multi-time judo champion, it should be no surprise that Harris shows great balance and hand usage on film. His first-step doesn't stand out as much right now as his elite acceleration and anticipation might suggest, but there's time to develop there. Harris has excellent pass-rushing ability and like many before him at Hunt put together a great freshman season.

[player_tooltip player_id='668611' first='Drew' last='Easter'], 6'4 220, Southeast Alamance

In terms of pure intrigue, Easter might be my favorite player in this class. He has long arms and decent speed and acceleration. He's currently listed as a defensive lineman and he could stay at edge in our rankings. However, he's shown plenty of potential at tight end as well, displaying a huge catch radius. Easter knows how to use his body well and he uses his long arms to stay away from the bodies of opposing offensive linemen. With a bit more polish, he could be an elite recruit.

[player_tooltip player_id='444280' first='Jordan' last='Hamm'], 6'2 210, Wilson Prep

Hamm is currently listed as a linebacker, but he's going to get a position change when we update rankings. What impresses me is his ability to play at multiple speeds: He can explode off the line and fly into the backfield, but he also has the awareness to tone it back and keep contain, fill a cutback lane or re-route opposing players. I'm really intrigued to see how his body develops as he looks like a man among boys on film.
