This list is surprisingly robust this early and could have the makings of an extremely strong class. In this part, we look at the 2027 cornerbacks.
Which 2027 Cornerbacks are Ranked?
I’m listing Crumel as a corner and that’s indeed where he plays for Clayton. However, he has play of qualities teams may covet in a safety, including size, reactions and a willingness to hit people. Crumel played a decent amount on varsity last season and although his stats aren’t gaudy, he’s a really impressive player with room to grow into an elite prospect.
Highlights
While Henderson is more of an athlete right now, his future is likely at corner, and his first offer (Georgia Tech) agrees. He plays all over the field, with snaps at receiver, running back, safety and corner, as well as extensive special teams work. He’s got the athletic profile to be a standout corner, especially if he continues to grow.
Vincent is a technically-sound corner who has gained some weight and strength this offseason. He didn’t play a ton as a freshman, but has more than enough tape available to make an evaluation. He has decent reactions and has great hips, able to mirror opposing receivers and stay with them in and out of breaks.
Highlights
Ikeme isn’t the biggest guy on the field, but his ball skills are impressive, evidenced by his five interceptions and two return touchdowns as a freshman. He’s strong enough in man coverage that the Reynolds coaching staff felt comfortable leaving him in one-on-one coverage with much older receivers. As his body develops, he’s certainly a prospect to keep an eye on.
Highlights
Luang-Sy is a young, smaller athlete with lots of talent. He played mostly receiver last season, but should contribute more at corner as a sophomore for Southeast Alamance. His technique is advanced and he’s not afraid to stick his head in and make plays in the running game. A solid cover corner, he should turn some heads this season when given more opportunities.
