Prep Redzone Illinois recently updated our class of 2025 rankings extending the list from 150 to 300 ranked prospects along with 140+ on the watch list. Now we dive into each position to look at who is the cream of the crop including here in 2025 Rankings: Top Quarterbacks!

[player_tooltip player_id='161508' first='Ethan' last='Plumb'] (St. Charles North – 6'3” 205)

Plumb is the top QB prospect in the 2025 class. This past year he racked up 2,557 passing yards and 32 total TDs (21 pass 11 run) with a 65% completion rate. Also notched 290 rushing yards. The 6'3" QB has good size and strength. Effective throwing across all levels. What was most impressive was how accurate he is on the move and throwing off platform. Quick release and inside the pocket makes quick movements with his feet to avoid rushers. Touch on deep ball and has a ton of zip on throws over the middle. Works well in the RPO game as a runner pulling it and getting up the field. Overall we saw a creative QB that can play in and out of the pocket along with running.

[player_tooltip player_id='131488' first='Jack' last='Elliott'] (Mt. Carmel – 6'1” 195)

Elliott is a winner! He has led Mt. Carmel to back to back 7A state championships. He isn't just a system QB. Plus athlete that is very good throwing on the run. Zip and accurate on short routes. Touch on the deep ball as well. Quick release with balanced footwork. Works well in the RPO game as both a passer and thrower. Magician with the ball. Such an explosive runner on designed runs as he is a homerun hitter in that area of the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='201957' first='Marcus' last='Thaxton'] (Morgan Park – 6'0” 175)

The first thing that stood out about Thaxton's tape was how explosive the ball comes off his hand. Absolute rocket for an arm! Throws with anticipation and was balanced with his footwork. Accurate on quick throws whether they be slants, out routes, and fades. Most of the throws on his film were within the pocket.

[player_tooltip player_id='1292076' first='Ryan' last='Fitzgerald'] (Loyola – 6'3” 205)

Fitzgerald as a junior threw for 2,690 yards and recorded 34 total touchdowns while leading his team to an 8A state title. Prototypical size and strength for a pocket passer. Ball comes easy off his hand and has excellent arms strength down the field. Good pocket presence with balanced footwork and can throw off platform when evading the rush. Very accurate throwing a beautiful deep ball. Can tuck it and run when he has to along with being effective on designed runs.

[player_tooltip player_id='830851' first='Colton' last='Gumino'] (Hersey – 6'2” 185)

Gumino had 2,488 yards as a junior along with 35 throwing TDs while also contributing 5 on the ground. The ball absolutely explodes off hand. Wiry 6'2" signal caller is a good athlete who throws well on move. Makes good decisions overall. Good release and at time seems to twist his whole body into the throw. His deep ball is what really stood out. Especially off play action where he would float it right into the receivers arms with great accuracy. Consistently pushes it downfield on deep go routes, posts, or even deep crosses. Alot to like on film here!

[player_tooltip player_id='288435' first='Jacob' last='Bell'] (Naperville North – 6'3” 190)

Bell has great size and strength at 6'3" and nearly 200 pounds. Plays with physicality to his game at the QB spot. That was shown on the first play of his tape throwing a bomb TD while taking a big hit. Strong arm that he lets it rip on crossing patterns and post routes. Quick release and movements inside of the pocket. Accurate rolling the pocket especially on out routes to the right. Steps up in the pocket when needed and can tuck it and run if the situation requires it. Anticipates well and can really let it fly out of his hand.

[player_tooltip player_id='118787' first='Logan' last='Malachuk'] (Nazareth – 5'11” 175)

The Nazareth QB racked up 3,477 passing yards on 61% completion rate while also running for 526 yards and going for 43 total touchdowns. Wrote down clean and easy release multiple times during this tape. Comes off his hand with such ease. Strong arm and ball explodes out of hand. Great footwork and is patient with it and seemed to be always balanced when in pocket. Drops the ball in the bucket on the bomb throws. Great combination of zip and touch on a variety of throws. Can also throw off balance while still getting velocity on his throws. Very effective as a RPO runner with home run speed!

[player_tooltip player_id='241121' first='Jackson' last='Alcorn'] (Burlington Central – 6'1” 200)

Alcorn impressed me at a PRZ camp several years back when he was younger. Well built QB that has good accuracy on the run. High percentage on short throws. Smooth and easy release with good footwork in the pocket. Little bit of a wind up on release, but not too much. Pinpoint accuracy that reminds me of a rock solid point guard with great patience making the right decisions.

[player_tooltip player_id='252506' first='Patrick' last='Heneghan'] (New Trier – 5'11” 200)

The ball explodes off Heneghan's hand! Smooth and easy release with excellent footwork. He has touch on his passes to all levels and can throw any route! When he hits that back foot and lets it rip it is a thing of beauty! Accuracy on the deep ball is a strength of his and can run it in the RPO game.
