is one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in Illinois in the class of 2025. He threw for 30 touchdowns and ran in 5 more as a junior for Morgan Park. Thaxton’s outstanding arm talent was on full display last year; there are not too many throws he can’t make. His mobility has to be accounted for on every snap; otherwise, he can make you pay with his legs. Thaxton continues to improve, and his best football is still in front of him as he enters his senior season in 2024.

. He has a live arm that can attack every inch of the field. When he steps into one and lets it rip the ball can get to the deep level of the field without much arc under the ball. The junior sets himself apart from most strong armed QBs by also showing good touch and accuracy. He can place a ball really well, and drop it into spots instead of always trying to use power. On top of trying to guard against his arm, you also need to prepare for him on the ground. I’m excited to follow Marcus’ postseason.

The Class of 2025 quarterback burst onto the scene in his sophomore season, tallying over 1,700 yards and 22 touchdowns. Thaxton measures in at 6’0, 180 lbs and is a dual-threat quarterback. He showcases incredible accuracy on the run, as he can make a variety of throws all over the field. He has a powerful arm that can push the ball down the field and possesses tremendous accuracy on vertical balls and in the red zone. In the run game, Thaxton is incredibly explosive, as he can turn the corner and outrun the majority of defensive players on the field. Whether in the air or on the ground, Thaxton is a straight up playmaker.

The 6′ 180 lbs junior has the interest of the D1 level, but we are still looking for that first offer. I have a feeling what he does right away this season will go a long ways towards changing that quickly. Looking back at the sophomore film, it is clear that Marcus has teh natural arm talent to develop at the next level. He is able to deliver accurate passes with velocity while off platform. His ability to elude pass rushers in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield shows off great poise, and confidence in his athletic abilities. When he is able to plant his feet and step into it, Marcus is also able to stretch the field 40+ yards downfield with good ball placement. I’m very excited to watch him lead the Morgan Park offense starting this week.

The 6’0, 180 lbs signal caller from Morgan Park showed off a variety of skills in his sophomore season that make him one of the top QBs in the state. Thaxton has a quick release that allows him to throw the ball with accuracy and velocity. He can recognize coverage and fit the ball into tight windows. Additionally, Thaxton has phenomenal touch on deep balls and goal line fades. He understands leverage well and can place the ball with ease in a variety of spots so that his receivers are the only ones who can make the catch. Thaxton also shows mobility in the pocket and accuracy on the run. Whether its a level 1 ball, a back shoulder throw, or a home run deep ball, Thaxton can do it all. Expect even more in his junior season.
