The Prep Redzone Next Middle School Combine series continued this weekend in Oklahoma and middle school standouts brought it on Saturday. We had some outstanding talent all across the state of Oklahoma and even some of the surrounding states. We have a ton of coverage from the event dropping on Prep Redzone Next! In this post, we’re putting the spotlight on the wide receiver position. There was a solid amount of talent at this position on Saturday and it showed. Stillwater 2028 standout David Thomas David Thomas 6'1" | 160 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2028 OK was covered earlier this week in our positional MVP article.
Aceyn Cherry – 2029 – Muskogee
The first of two 2029 standouts at the wide receiver position is Aceyn Cherry out of Muskogee. Simply put, we were really impressed with Cherry and thought he was one of the top performers at his position this weekend. To go a little further, the fact that he still has another year to mature and grow before he hits high school is very intriguing. Cherry definitely belonged out there on Saturday and he definitely feels like a prospect that we haven’t heard the last from. Good size, good ball skills and an a strong overall game made him a player to watch at camp. Just a 2029 prospect, he still has so much room to grow and develop and that’s eye-opening.
Caleb Peterson – 2028 – Lincoln Christian
After watching 2028 standout Caleb Peterson on the 7v7 circuit and seeing some of his track times and highlights on social media, we knew that he was going to be one of the top athletes in attendance on Saturday. And that’s how the camp played out for the Lincoln Christian standout. It began with him testing well and coming away as one of the top testers in attendance. Then he put that speed and skill on display in the various drills and one on one competitions. Peterson has good hands and there’s no doubt that the speed is there when he gets the ball in space. He could be an instant impact player when he hits the high school level.
Dominique Coursey Dominique Coursey 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH OK – 2028 – Plainview
Plainview had a few standouts on Saturday and this is a program in southern Oklahoma that continues to produce playmakers at a very high level. 2028 wide receiver Dominique Coursey Dominique Coursey 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH OK is a prospect that I didn’t know about coming into the camp and came away very impressed. Coursey was right there at the top in terms of being the top wide receiver in attendance. He was the complete package when we watched him throughout the camp. He tested well so he has speed and quickness. He’s a tall receiver with a big frame so he already has size. And then he made catch after catch throughout the camp. He’ll be a name to know as soon as this fall.
Evan Adams Evan Adams 5'8" | 125 lbs | ATH OK – 2029 – Poteau
We stay in southern Oklahoma for our last wide receiver standout. Poteau 2029 wide out Evan Adams Evan Adams 5'8" | 125 lbs | ATH OK had a solid day and after learning more about him as a player, we’re remembering his name moving forward. Like Coursey, Adams played with C4 this offseason on the 7v7 circuit and had a good tourney run. One of our main takeaways when learning about him were his hands. And those were on full display on Saturday. Adams was catching everything thrown his way. And he wasn’t the biggest receiver but another thing that stood out was how he would make some really impressive contested catches. Adams is another name to file away.
