Mt Olive’s season was cut short last year when the came across Ramapo, but don’t be surprised if they take it a step further next fall.
A QB that has the potential to help lead his offense to a state title, Jake Asbury Jake Asbury 5’9″ | 150 lbs | QB Mount Olive | 2025 NJ is ready for a second go in 2024. A passer that has a great blend of throw capabilities and run skills, Jake can hurt defenses however he chooses. As a passer, Jake does an exceptional job stepping up in the pocket and maintaining his composure as the pass rush closes in on him. Passing for 1667 yards and 15 touchdowns, Jake was deadly throwing on the run as he consistently squared up his shoulders and hit his receivers in stride. A passer first and runner only when necessary, Jake was lethal with the ball in his bands last season as he rushed for 423 yards and found the end zone 9 times. Jake’s acceleration is quicker than it appears, and his quick burst often catch defenders off guard.
One of my favorite running backs in the north, Tyler Cumming Tyler Cumming 6’0″ | 195 lbs | RB Mount Olive | 2025 NJ is a polished power back that is ready to put up some monster numbers in 2024. Rushing for 1467 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2023, Tyler imposed his will on opponents as he consistently kept his legs churning and trucked defenders on his way down the field. Nimble in his running style, watch as defenders not only bounce off of him as they approach, but how much Tyler uses his agility to stop defenders in their tracks. Tyler is one of those running backs you need to keep an eye on next fall.
Jekori Zapata
Jekori Zapata
With break away speed built in, Jekori Zapata is primed for an electric 2024 season. Hauling in 37 receptions in 2023, Jekori was a consistent and reliable target all season long. Jekori is equipped with extremely quick reflexes. Once he pulls the ball in he immediately gets his head upfield and is able to react to defenders closing in on him. Jekori’s stop and start skills not only make him a lethal route runner, but a ball carrier as well. This is a player you want to get the ball to early and often.
Possibly the defender I’ve highlighted the most over this past year, Lincoln Youtz Lincoln Youtz 6’0″ | 185 lbs | LB Mount Olive | 2025 NJ is linebacker that deserves all of the recognition heading his way. A natural leader in the middle of the field, Lincoln commanded the defense as he flew from sideline to sideline, getting involved in every play.
With a relentless pursuit of the QB, Lincoln flushes them out of the pocket and causes pure chaos in the backfield. Racking up an impressive 125 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and forcing 4 fumbles, I could see Lincoln line up at the safety position at the next level with how quickly he can move and how much range he has in coverage.
Anthony Collier
Anthony Collier
A quick-twitch, reliable defender lining up on the outside, Anthony Collier is the man you want lining up against the best receiver the opponent has to offer. Dynamic in his pass coverage, Anthony can press up at the line and stay glued to the receiver from start to finish. With fluid movement in his hips as he changes directions, Anthony is able to pounce on short routes and also turn his hips and go step-for-step with the receiver. I am extremely impressed with his recognition of short routes and runs to the outside. Anthony is an immediate presence waiting for the ball carrier out on the perimeter.
