In this article I want to highlight some of the Michigan made talent that showed up and represented the state of Michigan proudly!
I’m not sure anyone worked as hard play after play to get open than Malek this weekend. He fired off the line quickly, ran his route precisely and kept moving to find a spot to get open, giving his QB a big target. He displayed a large catch radius, and had the instincts to turn up field immediately and get extra yardage. His body control on jump balls was better than I remember seeing before, and I really loved how 50-50 balls seem to just go his way always. I keep waiting for Malek to completely blow up, and it is seeming like he is right on the verge now.

Kendall impressed me the most with his poise. He seemed in control, and acted as the leader that his team needed. He was calm in the pocket, and did a great job of going through progressions and finding guys some other people in his bracket were not. I think his mechanics and footwork will continue to take shape, but he does have a big arm and solid frame that he will be able to continue to build. I came away more impressed than I even expected, and after talking with him and the coaching staff, I have very high hopes for where Kendall could take his game in the future!

Catch. Juke. Score. Backflip. That’s the story for Tre this weekend! Seriously though, this kid flat out catches everything that comes his way, and I really love his route running. He’s super athletic, and stretches the field with ease. He wins 1 on 1 matchups more often than not, and against zone, he finds a little daylight, makes the catch, and goes to work with free space ahead. He’s about as athletically gifted of a WR as you’ll find, and this youngster is still learning and evolving! Good luck guarding Tre for the next few years.

The amount of catches, and the difficulty of some of the catches this weekend made Jaiden one of the top performers of the tournament. I like his route running, and I like how well he is able to post up in the middle and catch the ball with his hands, tuck and turn up field in a hurry. He’s capable of taking off down the sideline, getting his defender behind him, and reeling in some tough catches for touchdowns and big yardage. I would love to see him play again this fall because I think he could be up for a huge season.
I know I mentioned him already this weekend, but I can’t overstate how good David looked this weekend. He has fantastic body control, he stays ahead of the defender, and his cuts are nearly impossible to predict. He doesn’t tip off his route at all, and when he cuts, he makes defenders look silly. Coaches told me they couldn’t believe he didn’t have more offers, and one well respected coach told me he was probably the best wide receiver he had ever coached. Calmese has taken huge steps from when I saw him last, and I think he’s only going to continue working and getting better. Whoever snags him is going to be incredibly lucky to get such an offensive force!

Jayden was one of the kids I had heard about, but was excited to see in person. He did not disappoint, as he looked the part early and often across the entire weekend. This kids concentration and ball skills are so far above what you would expect out of a young receiver. He is mature beyond his years as far as his game skill and style. You can tell he has put a ton of work into the weight room, his body control, and hauling in contested balls. Jayden will be one to look out for going forward in the state of Michigan, as I think he has the potential to go play big time college football.
Skyler Hunter Jr

I was totally unaware of what I was missing with Skyler. He looked super impressive all weekend, slinging the rock all over. He has a nice quick trigger, which is great for 7 on 7 ball in particular, but obviously it can be helpful in real game situations as well. He was able to use a pump fake and reload quickly to take advantage of a defender that would bite. His footwork was above average, his mechanics looked pretty good, and there were a number of times where he just flicked the ball with ease over a defender to a streaking receiver. I am really curious on where he will fall in the pecking order of QBs in the state this fall, because he definitely solidified a spot on my radar all year long!
