No team in the division pulled away in 2023 to make them the clear favorite, so 2024 will be battle for that top spot and a push for the playoffs. Here are some of the players leading the charge for their teams.
A top 100 player in the state and one of the most talented QBs, Derek Anderson Derek Anderson 5’11” | 175 lbs | QB Woodbridge | 2025 State NJ is Woodbridge’s leader and commander on offense. Putting up prolific statistics in 2023, Derek threw for over 1700 yards and 20 touchdowns. Derek’s pocket presence stands out within the state as some of the best. His feet are always moving, allowing him to shift around and avoid the pass rushers piercing through the line.
A very clean passer that follows through on his throws, Derek can pick defenses apart when he throws it deep down the sidelines and also when he throws darts to a crossing man. A run threat as well, Derek is the total package at QB.
A two way starter that shines on both sides, Bryan Anderson Bryan Anderson 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Woodbridge | 2025 State NJ is an athlete opponents need to be aware of at all times. Defensively, Bryan’s safety skills makes it a challenge for any QB to have success in the middle of the field. Picking the ball off 3 times in 2023, Bryan’s reaction time allows him to jump on the route and either pick it off or break it up. While also racking up 68 tackles last season, Bryan finds a way to get involved in every play.
As a receiver, I am very impressed with Bryan’s speed off of the line. No wonder he caught over 500 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2023, he has a burst that gives him a step on every corner he goes up against. This is a player I could see climb in the rankings very soon.
Putting up an impressive 591 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns in 2023, Nygel Hill Nygel Hill 6’1″ | 165 lbs | WR Colonia | 2025 NJ may be the most talented receiver returning in the division. With the size to play at the next level and thrive there, Nygel is able to outcompete and use his body to get to the ball before the defender has a chance. It is gutsy to try to cover Nygel one on one with no help overtop. Nygel has great hand eye coordination as well, making it easy for the QB to throw it over Nygel’s shoulder and for him to come down with it. This is another player within the division I believe deserves way more recognition.
A destructive force within the division, Kevin Taylor Kevin Taylor 6’1″ | 215 lbs | DL Rahway | 2025 NJ is the defender that opponents need to fear most. Getting to the quarterback 10 times last season and forcing 3 fumbles, Kevin is always one play away from completely changing the momentum of the game.
Lining up on the edge for Linden, Kevin has a motor that keeps running until the whistle is blown. If you’re looking for a defensive end with speed, strength, and grit, you have found one in Kevin Taylor Kevin Taylor 6’1″ | 215 lbs | DL Rahway | 2025 NJ . He has the ability to not only drive a lineman deep into the backfield, but can also use his finesse to to get into the pocket quickly. This is one of the most exciting players in the entire conference.
