These eight new additions all have an opportunity to be phenomenal Varsity Starters next season, if they weren’t already great Varsity players last season.
I’m working on a few articles on the Detroit Public School league, and it was there where I finally watched Darryl’s film. I don’t know why or how I forgot about him when I made the initial 2027 rankings, but he’s here now. Darryl was thrown into the fire last season, tasked with filling the shoes of Dante Moore while facing top competition on a program with championship expectations. As the season went on, Darryl got comfortable and played exceptionally well. He threw for 1362 yards and 21TDs on 65% completion. I really like his quick flick of the wrist throwing motion that allows him to push the ball downfield quickly with what looks like minimal effort. He’s also immensely athletic for his age. Already with offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Kentucky, Maryland, Bowling Green State, and Western Kentucky, he’s undoubtably a top-5 prospect in this class and will very likely continue to be for some time.
Anthony was another guy I found on Hudl Discoveries when I was looking through the Capital Area Leagues. Anthony reminds me a lot of Plymouth Senior and MSU Commit Jaxon McCaig Jaxon McCaig 6’2″ | 220 lbs | RB Plymouth | 2024 State MI . Both have a hard running style, longer legs, and are able to high step and run through several tackle attempts. Anthony has phenomenal athleticism, vision, and contact balance for his age, and as long as he keeps up the work he’ll be a highly-touted prospect soon.

I really love Jamarion Jenkins Jamarion Jenkins 5’9″ | 155 lbs | DB Voyageur Prep | 2027 State MI ‘ potential. His first highlight shows great playmaking ability where he steps in front of a slightly underthrown pass to earn an interception. Most DBs in that situation would stick with their man a second longer, and try to make a play on the man. There are several occasions in Jamarion’s film where he proves he has great DB instincts and knows when to make a play on the ball. He lists himself as a Strong Safety, but he could play anywhere in the secondary and find success. He’s also included in the offense where he shows off good speed and athletic abilities.

Eric is ranked mostly based on projection. He’s a raw prospect from Detroit Catholic Central, but I love his size and I love the track record DCC has in developing players. Eric works hard to finish his blocks, but lacks a lot of fundamentals and the aggression needed to play offensive line at a high level. Will this change during his Sophomore season? I expect it to. Guaranteed? No, but if I had to bet, Eric is going to be a very good offensive line prospect in a few years.

JV players aren’t ranked extremely often. For Baylor, it wasn’t even a question. Although most of his time was spent on JV, his aggression and reactivity on both sides of the ball is amazing. Defensively, he’s mainly a free safety. He’s one of the better run-stopping free safeties I’ve watched. Baylor is a willing and reactive run defender but could use a bit of work with tackling. In pass coverage, I like how Baylor is able to close on the ball and make a play late in the catch process to force an incompletion. Offensively he has decent speed and is quite slippery in tight spaces.
Michael is a small-school prospect with a lot of potential. Already, I like his release and speed. He’s also shown that he can make catches in traffic and produce in the open field. He’s also a rock-solid defensive player, but I personally like his offensive potential a bit more.
Micah is already a phenomenal offensive lineman in his league. Tri-County doesn’t go up against the powerhouses of Michigan, but against decent competition, Micah dominated at times as a freshman. His fundamentals won’t blow you away yet, but he has that aggression and ability to drive that you have to have as an offensive lineman. In order to keep his position in the rankings as the years go on, he must improve fundamentally and spend a lot of time in the weight room.
