Detroit Catholic Centra is developing offensive and defensive linemen at an impressive clip. It seems that Anderson is the next man up for the Shamrocks. Akron, Bowling Green and Colorado State are just the latest flurry of offers for the standout lineman. He’s as physical and nasty as they come, and thrives in the run game. Not only is he big, but he moves extremely well. He can pull or release to the 2nd level and lock in in open space, which is something many linemen his size can struggle with. His stock is on a big-time rise over the last few weeks.
I have yet to do a deep dive on Eric’s season- I plan on doing that soon.
Though I’m absolutely expecting to see a noticeable jump in production from last season.
Last offseason, I saw Eric work continuously at camps, workouts, you name it. He was pretty raw last season, but that frame is hard to beat, I could see the right mentality, and he has the coaching staff + surrounding cast to mentor and develop him into an elite offensive line prospect.
Excuse the anecdotal evidence, but I have personally seen fewer young offensive linemen regress than any other position. Sometimes, QBs, WRs, DBs, etc fail to develop, but the offensive linemen, especially at elite programs, have an amazing track record. Eric’s been working, and he’s 8 weeks into what’s likely to be a 12+ week season. No doubt he’s a blue chip prospect in this class.
Eric is someone whom I liked more and more throughout the offseason. Early last winter, I thought Eric was pretty raw, but he showed tremendous improvement throughout the offseason. Working with a few other D1 prospects + having an incredibly difficult strength of schedule, I’ve been optimistic that Eric will show massive improvement this season.
In the run game, Eric appears a little more balanced compared to last season, without sacrificing any power. Love the pancake blocks against a big-looking Chippewa Valley defensive line.
Pass blocking still looks a little raw. Footwork has definitely improved. I’m looking forward to seeing how Eric fares against the great DEs in the Catholic League.
Although Eric has zero offers to this point, I strongly beleive that he’s the most polished offensive lineman I’ve watched in this class. Plus, he’s got the size to go D1 (assuming 6’5″ 295 is accurate).
Eric is still raw, but so is just about every class of 2027 offensive lineman. His footwork especially needs a lot of work. However, Eric is able to engage with blocks and shove defenders into the ground. He makes mistakes, but he can recover from those mistakes better than most. So yeah, Eric is #1 in the O-Line group right now. I love his physicality and play speed. I’m betting on a huge offseason and D1 offers.
Eric is an extremely underrated piece of Catholic Central’s success.
First and foremost, Eric has elite size. 6’5″ long arms, and great weight make for a high probability of D1 offers this offseason.
As for his skillset, Eric is still a bit raw, but worlds better than other 6’5″+ underclassmen that I watch. Pass blocking, Eric does his job. His footwork is still a bit wonky, and he’s not very agile, but he does enough to get in front of his defender and execute a block.
Run blocking (playing at any OL position) is solid. Eric does his job- playing with excellent leverage and solid footwork when he’s playing guard. Eric is also able to get to the second level/boundary. It’s obvious that Eric knows the blocking schemes, and as long as he plays against Cass Tech, I’m confident he’ll have a few highlights.
To me, a lot of the ingredients are already there for Anderson to take off on the recruiting trail. He definitely will have to prove it on the field with his technique and athletic ability, but at 6’4 275 already and being in a great developmental program like Detroit Catholic Central, there is no reason why he can’t come right out and prove what he has! I’ll be looking forward to watching his development.
Eric is ranked mostly based on projection. He’s a raw prospect from Detroit Catholic Central, but I love his size and I love the track record DCC has in developing players. Eric works hard to finish his blocks, but lacks a lot of fundamentals and the aggression needed to play offensive line at a high level. Will this change during his Sophomore season? I expect it to. Guaranteed? No, but if I had to bet, Eric is going to be a very good offensive line prospect in a few years.
