New Jersey has top tier talent at the receiver position, so it is hard for every player in the state to receive the attention they deserve. However, within the watchlist, these five players have been balling out and are ready to emerge into the rankings and join the best the state has to offer.
A player with a Kelvin Benjamin-like frame, Camden Eastside’s Scott Freeman Scott Freeman 6’3″ | 170 lbs | WR Camden Catholic | 2026 NJ is a target that outsizes every opponent he lines up against. Standing tall, Scott has the ability to box out defenders and out leverage them for the ball. Coming down with 2 touchdowns and 22o yards in 2023, Scott is emerging as a presence in the end zone that will be difficult to slow down. It is best to toss it up to him in the back of the end zone and let him come down with it. With the strong hands Scott possesses, quarterbacks can be confident Scott can maintain his grip on the ball and prevent defenders from ripping it away.
A newer receiver on the list, Kevin Alexander Hamilton-West Kevin Alexander Hamilton-West 6’1″ | 170 lbs | WR Paul VI | 2026 NJ provides Paul VI another weapon lining up on the outside. This team has two studs at the receiver position, which will make it near impossible to completely shut down their aerial attack in 2024. What sets Kevin apart from other receivers is his silky route running skills and agility when he gets the ball in his hands. He can catch the pass and turn upfield quickly to rack up YACs. Kevin is a player I’d like to see Paul VI get the ball to early and unleash him amongst defenders. Don’t be surprised if he darts right by them.

A long stride runner that can get to his top end speed very quickly in his route, Giovanni Sambucci Giovanni Sambucci 5’11” | 160 lbs | WR Donovan Catholic | 2026 NJ is another weapon from Donovan Catholic that defenses have to worry about. Giovanni is the type of receiver that can run right by a defender and be wide open if the corner is caught looking in the backfield. I am excited to see what type of role he can play in their offense, especially since they are loaded at the WR position.

Racking up 392 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in 2023, Trey McFadden Trey McFadden 6’0″ | 180 lbs | WR Montgomery | 2026 NJ is starting to look like one of the top receivers within his division. A skillful route runner, Trey digs hard into the ground to change directions and can quickly create separation with his elusiveness. As a pass catcher, I am very impressed with his concentration and ability to come down with the ball even when the defender is getting their hands in on it. An extremely talented ball carrier as well, Trey weaves in and out of defense as he makes his way downfield with ease.
In my mind, Tyree Roane Tyree Roane 5’10” | 185 lbs | WR Paul VI | 2026 NJ is one of the top downfield threats in the state. Racking up 674 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore, Tyree is one of the smaller receivers on this list but is arguably the most explosive. A receiver I see rising in the rankings very soon, Tyree is everything you are looking for in a WR1. He can make the contested catches look easy and maintain his balance to continue on downfield for a touchdown. Tyree is the most dangerous man on the field any time he is out there.
