With that being said, I wanted to highlight some players at each position that deserve and are still seeking their first college offer. After already covering the offensive side of the ball, I have now turned my attention to the defensive side of the ball. With the defensive linemen out of the way, here are some linebackers in the class of 2025 in the state of Kentucky that still need offers.
Ian Williams Ian Williams 6’0″ | 225 lbs | LB Mayfield | 2025 State KY is a player that has been high on my radar for a while now and continued to stand out this past season. Williams lines up at inside linebacker where he is very impressive against the run. He reads his keys and gets downhill in a hurry to make the tackle before the ball carrier can get going. As a junior, he led his team with 112 tackles in 14 games. He also showed the ability to rush the passer, finishing the year with 3.5 sacks. Williams also made an impact on offense, finishing the season with three rushing touchdowns. I expect that first offer to come soon for Ian as he has received a good amount of college interest and has the talent to play at the next level.

Davion Sturgis Davion Sturgis 6’4″ | 210 lbs | LB Woodford County | 2025 State KY is another linebacker that has been on my radar for a while now and continued to impress this past season. He has shown the versatility to play both inside and outside the box where he is very reliable against the run. Sturgis is able to read his keys quickly and use his speed to blow by opposing offensive linemen to get to the ball carrier to make the tackle. He finished his junior year with a team-leading 79 tackles along with six tackles for loss in 10 games. Davion also showed the ability to put pressure on the quarterback, finishing the year with two sacks. Sturgis hasn’t reported much college interest but he is definitely a player that coaches should have their eyes on heading into his senior year.

Ryan Rayhill Ryan Rayhill 6’2″ | 205 lbs | LB Bullitt East | 2025 State KY is a player that caught my attention with a very strong junior season. Rayhill lines up at outside linebacker where he is very reliable against the run. He reads the play quickly and is able to use his speed to come downhill and get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make tackles I. The open field. Rayhill finished this past season as his team’s leader in tackles with 77 along with three tackles for loss in 12 games. He also showed the ability to make plays against the pass, finishing the year with a team-high four interceptions along with one sack. Rayhill also made an impact on offense, catching nine passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that first offer come soon for Ryan as he has already received a solid amount of college interest.

My final linebacker in this series is Amarein Atkinson Amarein Atkinson 6’0″ | 205 lbs | LB Ballard | 2025 State KY from Ballard. He jumped onto my radar with a very impressive junior year. Atkinson lines up at inside linebacker where he is dominant against the run. He reads his keys quickly and comes downhill with a sense of urgency to meet the ball carrier in the gap and make the tackle before they can get going. Atkinson led Ballard with 151 tackles as a junior along with 12 tackles for loss in 14 games. He also showed the ability to blitz in passing situations, finishing the season with three sacks. Amarein hasn’t reported any college interest but should be a player for coaches to keep an eye on heading into his final season.
