DR7’s 7v7 circuit made their annual stop in the Tulsa area over the weekend. We were able to check in on pool play Saturday and bracket play on Sunday. We saw a ton of Oklahoma talent on display and will have several spotlights throughout the next few days on Prep Redzone Oklahoma. In this article, we’re putting the spotlight on Prep Redzone Next with four 2028 prospects that shined bright. For the most part, these are all familiar names that showed once again why they are going to be the next names to know in Oklahoma, starting this fall.
Lincoln Christian 2028 running back CJ Wright CJ Wright 5’7″ | 150 lbs | RB OK had another stellar performance this weekend. Wright got on our radar back in January when he was one of the top campers at our PRZ-Next camp, earning MVP for the running backs. He would follow that up by taking home MVP honors in the 14U championship game two weeks ago. This weekend, Wright was once again a two-way star on offense and defense. Wright is blazing fast and that speed was on full display but he was doing much more than just outrunning his competition. He was making plays on defense as well and is going to be a name to watch. He’s going to be a freshman for the Tulsa private power this fall and should be an instant impact player.

We got a good chance to watch Stillwater 2028 wide receiver David Thomas David Thomas 6’1″ | 160 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2028 OK on Sunday during bracket play and from the very first game, he was making plays. Thomas was making some spectacular catches in the end zone. Thomas has good size, outstanding hands and he created some easy separation from defensive backs with his speed. Thomas was playing with Sooner 7’s 15U squad and had a really good day on Sunday. After talking with a few coaches about Thomas, he’s a 2028 prospect that actually reclassified to the ’28 group. Stillwater already has a young star at wide receiver and when Thomas enters high school this fall, he’s going to add even more depth to the Pioneers.

Similar to Wright, Washington 2028 running back Josiah Dickerson Josiah Dickerson 5’6″ | 155 lbs | RB OK has already been featured prominently this offseason after performing well in 7v7 tournaments as well as our PRZ-Next camp back in January. Dickerson is going to be a star. You already see the signs pointing in that direction and his playmaking ability was on full display this weekend. Dickerson and his Durant-based C4 squad made a run to the 15U championship game. The future Washington Warrior has a lot of the tools to make him a playmaker immediately when he enters high school. He’s fast, agile and incredibly strong already. And an underrated quality is the fact that Dickerson always has a smile on his face.

Arguably Oklahoma’s top 2028 quarterback in attendance this weekend was Victory Christian’s Maddox Young Maddox Young 6’0″ | 160 lbs | QB Victory Christian | 2028 OK as he played for Sooner 7’s 15U squad. Young has already made an impression on us this offseason after watching him in multiple 7v7 tournaments. And just like two weeks ago at our 7v7 tournament, Young was able to execute throws despite strong winds on Sunday. Young is able to push the ball down the field and there’s no doubt that Young benefits from having some absolute studs at the wide receiver position. But Young is going to be a name to watch moving forward. After reclassifying to the 2028 class last year, we’re fired up to see Young enter the high school ranks this fall.
