I saw a lot of good, and a lot bad from a lot of athletes. This article will cover five of the best prospects I was able to watch last night!
WR | Owen Van Der Veen Owen Van Der Veen 6'4" | 190 lbs | WR East Kentwood | 2026 State MI | East Kentwood | Hudl
Owen is a completely new prospect for me. He told me his sole role last season was as a Kicker, and that shocked me, considering his size and seemingly natural receiver skills. He looks every bit of 6’4″ 190, and he does a great job using his length to his advantage. His routes and speed could use a bit of work, but I don’t expect perfection from someone who’s new to the receiver position. He left a great first impression, and I’m looking forward to seeing how he progresses as the offseason rolls along.
WR | Christopher Murphy Christopher Murphy 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Grand Rapids Union | 2025 MI -Ware | East Kentwood | Hudl
I am extremely excited to see what Murphy-Ware is able to do at East Kentwood next season. He’s been on my radar for a long time, and he’s been playing at a high level since he came in as a freshman. Grand Rapids Union didn’t have the rounded talent and exposure to allow him to thrive as much as possible. During the 7on7 he was blowing by everyone, and he impressed me with his explosiveness and speed. His hands are also extremely solid, and his open-field ability is polished. At his absolute floor, this is a high-end GLIAC prospect.
WR | Malek Farha Malek Farha 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Ann Arbor Pioneer | 2025 State MI | AA Pioneer | Hudl
I’ve seen Malek a good number of times in the past few months, and I finally think I have a great handle on what he’s capable of. Frankly, I think he’ll be a phenomenal high-tier Division 3 college receiver. He knows how to play the position very well, that much is for sure. His release and route running are good. Malek’s effort is awesome. His hands could use some work. I absolutely fell in love with his film about a year ago, and I still think Malek is a great high school football player. If he wants to get to that next level, he needs to commit to improving athletically as well as with his hands.
WR | Jaiden Leonard | Saline | Hudl
Jaiden Leonard impressed me more than any other prospect for one simple reason; He went all-out on every rep. I saw a lot of half-effort reps from a lot of players, but none from Jaiden. It seemed that he put care and effort into every release and route on the day. That allowed him to catch a lot of balls, pick up a ton of YAC (even in touch football), and score touchdowns. He’s a very fluid route-runner, can change direction on a dime, and like I said, took the 7on7 seriously!
DB/WR | Jamison Pelt Jamison Pelt 5'11" | 155 lbs | ATH Swan Valley | 2026 State MI | Swan Valley | Hudl
Pelt was making plays left and right on both sides of the ball. He played nearly every down on both sides, and it’s apparent why: cause he can ball. As a defensive back, he’s extremely rangy and is willing to put his body on the line for a PBU or pick. There were several instances where he read the QBs eyes perfectly, got in front of a passing lane, and made a play. As a receiver, it was much of the same. I liked his release and overall route running, and his hops and hands were on full display. He’s another prospect I wasn’t too familiar with, but now he’s definitely on my radar.
