We had some outstanding talent all across the state and even some of the surrounding states. We’ll have a ton of coverage from the event dropping on Prep Redzone Next! In this post, we’re putting the spotlight on the best of the best from the testing portion of the camp. These campers were in the top ten of the 40-yard dash and the shuttle run. Those combine tests are the two of the best ways to identify the top athletes and how they move. Complete testing results should be emailed to each camper within the next 48 hours. Be on the lookout for that!
Derby 2028 running back Cameron Akins Cameron Akins 5’8″ | 150 lbs | ATH KS came down from Kansas and immediately turned heads. Akins was not only top ten in both drills, he was in the top three for both. In the 40-yard dash, Akins ran a time of 4.78 on his second attempt and that was good enough for the second fastest time. In the shuttle run, Akins was clocked at 4.38 seconds and that was good enough for the third fastest at the camp. Akins was also right there near the top of the running back position during the individual drills and one on one competition. Derby isn’t exactly lacking talent and they have another playmaker coming up.

Lincoln Christian standout CJ Wright CJ Wright 5’7″ | 150 lbs | RB OK ran away with the MVP award for the running back position, literally. Wright ran the fastest 40-yard dash on Sunday afternoon with a time of 4.75 seconds. He backed that up with a second time of 4.85 seconds. Not only did he have the fastest time in the 40 but he had the best cumulative time between the two runs. Wright was absolutely electric and he also had a time of 4.53 seconds during the shuttle run. Coming into Sunday’s camp, we knew a little bit about Wright and we knew that the hype was high for the Lincoln standout. He backed up the hype.

Washington 2028 quarterback Creed Barrett Creed Barrett 5’10” | 150 lbs | QB Washington | 2028 OK went back to back as QB MVP at our Oklahoma PRZ-Next camps. He was dominant at the quarterback position but his great day began with wowing in the testing portion of camp. Like Akins, Barrett would finish in the top three for the 40-yard dash and the shuttle run. Barrett ran the second fastest shuttle time, clocking in at 4.35 seconds. He would also run the third fastest 40-yard dash time at 4.81 seconds. Barrett already had our attention coming into the camp and then he dominated. State champion Washington has some talent coming up with this 2028 class.

Anadarko 2028 quarterback La’Zane Owens La’Zane Owens QB OK was right there with Barrett as the most athletic quarterback in attendance. We got a chance to watch Owens run the shuttle and the change of direction speed was off the charts. So it wasn’t a surprise that his time of 4.34 seconds was the fastest at the camp, narrowly beating out Barrett. Owens was also tied for the fifth fastest time in the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.90. Owens then had a good day throwing the ball. He was accurate and when you combine that athleticism, speed and throwing ability, you have a quarterback with a bright future.

Ada 2028 tight end and defensive end Nate Boeck Nate Boeck 6’3″ | ATH Ada | 2027 OK might be the most impressive prospect on this breakdown. He’s definitely the biggest and despite that size, Boeck was in the top ten for both drills. Boeck tied for the fifth fastest shuttle time with a time of 4.50 seconds and he was consistent as his second run was clocked at 4.53 seconds. Boeck also tied for the ninth fastest 40-yard dash time, clocking in at 4.97 seconds. Boeck then primarily worked at defensive end during the individual and competition drills. Boeck already looks the part and should be an instant impact player this fall.
