However, there are newcomers on the watch as well that deserve just as much attention. Here are 5 of the best 2026 QBs from last fall.
The top QB of the 2026 class coming out of New Jersey, Derek Zammit Derek Zammit 6’0″ | 170 lbs | QB DePaul Catholic | 2026 State NJ is a player that should be gaining all of our attention. Commanding DePaul’s offense, Derek played with poise all season long as he threw the ball with precision each and every game. Throwing for 1736 yards and 11 touchdowns, Derek is one of those young QBs that has the ability to pick defenses apart. Composed within the pocket, Derek can deliver a dime in stride to his receivers. What’s most impressive is that he can deliver very accurate balls from any arm angle. And with 8 touchdowns on the ground, he is also a threat when he tucks it and runs.

Washington Township’s Cole Aquino Cole Aquino 5’10” | 175 lbs | QB Washington Township | 2026 NJ is coming up on the radar. Finding the endzone 14 times and throwing for 1350 yards, Cole is the type of QB that is able to find his receivers deep downfield with ease. Really trusting his arm strength and his wide receiver’s ability to come down with it, Cole was able to sling the rock over the coverage throughout the season. And with the ability to get the ball out under duress, Cole can lead a team down the field even when there is pressure in his face.

Quarterbacking for Immaculata, Mason Geis Mason Geis 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Immaculata | 2026 State NJ is one of the true gunslingers in the state. Tossing 15 touchdown passes and over 1000 yards in 2023, Mason displayed flawless technique this fall. With excellent size for a sophomore QB, Mason stands confident in the pocket as he lets the play develop. Being shifty enough to evade the rush while keeping his eyes downfield, Mason is another one of those QBs that makes throwing on the run look easy. And with 5 rushing touchdowns on the year, be weary if he gets into open field.

One of the most accurate and reliable quarterbacks in the state, Jack Cannon Jack Cannon 6’2″ | 200 lbs | QB Holmdel | 2026 NJ is an early favorite of mine to gain more attention over the offseason. Throwing 10 touchdowns and not a single interception, Jack is able to fit the ball into a tight window that most others can’t. The Holmdel QB can throw a dart downfield, but can also drop over the shoulder to his receiver with great touch. Another run threat as well, Jack carried the ball into the endzone 5 times and rushed for 485 yards. This is a QB that should be on your watchlist.

Arguably the best quarterback in the state regardless of class, Lamar Best Lamar Best 6’0″ | 175 lbs | QB Willingboro | 2026 State NJ put up some of the most prolific stats in 2023. Finding the endzone 35 times through the air and another 17 times on the ground, the Willingboro product can throw the ball from any place on the field and find his receiver with astonishing accuracy. As he maneuvers within the backfield, he stays dialed in and keeps his focus downfield to find the open man. Being a top notch runner as well, defenses need to shadow this QB all game if they want to have any sort of success. Look for Lamar to continue to make big time plays in 2024.
