Still, the Huskies were able to defeat Bradshaw Christian for the SJS section title crown at the D6 level, and bring back plenty of talent in 2024. Mankins can play all over the field, either as an edge player, pass rusher or at inside linebacker. He is explosive off the ball, sets his hands quickly and is a natural bender around the edge that closes quickly and can win with both speed and power. Against the run, he locks out blockers and can quickly shed while not giving up ground and quickly recognizes blocks/can take on pullers. He is a high IQ kid that can sniff out screens/draws and has some cover abilities as well in the flats and downfield against bigger receivers and tight ends. He also shows that he can redirect quickly, takes good angles in the open field and plays with a low hat when moving laterally in the box.
