Both the Phoenix 12U & Phoenix 14U All-Star teams finished second in their respective brackets. On top of that, the AZ Suns squad won the AYF National Championship in the 13U D2 bracket. Both the All-Star teams carried rosters of 30-40 kids, while the Suns were smaller in rosters–but had a ton of future D1 talent to display. Here’s a look at Part 1 of the 2028 prospects from Arizona, that dominated the competition.
– Tallest kid on a very big Phoenix 14U All-Star Team. Every bit of 6-foot-4 right now
– Type of guy you send off the bus first.
– Started at Tackle on offense and bounced between defensive tackle and defensive end
– Has good weight now, but once he fills out—he’s going to be a special player at OT
– Very interesting prospect to watch down at AYF Nationals because of his skill set. Was one of the key members of the AZ Suns 13U team, who won the 13U D2 National Title
– Listed as an Athlete (ATH) because he could go a couple different ways in terms of future
– Comes with a bigger body, good muscle mass and some really excellent feet for a kid his size
– Originally loved him as an active defensive tackle, but he’s a load to bring down as a running back, too
– Starter at Safety for the Phoenix 14U All-Star Team
– Covered a lot of ground with his length in the secondary
– Passed the eye test right away
– Very reminiscent of Aiden Honeywood Aiden Honeywood 6’2″ | 175 lbs | WR Shadow Ridge | 2027 AZ & Zerek Sidney Zerek Sidney 6’0″ | 160 lbs | WR Desert Edge | 2027 State AZ (both 14U All-Stars last year) in terms of body and style
– Just one of the talented skill position guys on the AYF National Championship-winning AZ Suns 13U team
– Certainly in the conversation of best pure cover corner at the tournament, regardless of age or division
– Not as physically imposing as some of his teammates, but his ability to make plays on the ball was elite
– MVP of the championship game vs. San Diego Bolts, after not one, but TWO, pick six’s
– Was not at 100% in the game against New Jersey and didn’t play as much as expected
– When he did get touches, it was easy to see, the kid is going to be elite
– Explosive, runs low to the ground. Runs almost like he’s a hockey player skating
– Also contributed at safety and in the return game with touchdowns
– Passed the eye test right away when I saw him the first time, then his play in-game solidified it for me
– Great amount of muscle on a smaller frame, was equally strong and quick
– Primarily played wide receiver and outside linebacker at AYF Nationals, but also plays/played running back
– Depending on how tall he gets, I could easily see a move to strong safety in high school. Position change would allow his combination of physicality and ball skills shine
– The main offensive threat for Phoenix 14U All-Stars against New Jersey
– Explosive kid that can play in the slot or at running back
– Scored the only touchdown against New Jersey with a tremendous individual effort
– Wrestled a tough bubble screen away from two NJ defenders, broke tackles and ran it in
Highlights
– On an AZ Suns 13U team that had a bunch of really impressive-looking players, Wells did not catch my eye first time I watched. However, loved what I saw the second time
– Really good length at 6-foot-1 and good footwork – obviously aided by the fact he’s a solid basketball player too
– Has a bit of a mean streak when it becomes time to put rubber to pavement
– Does a good job of crashing from the defensive end position. At first look, would think he’s a pass rushing specialist. However, appeared to play better against the run
Highlights
– One of the wide receivers that I stood out immediately during warm-up’s and into the games
– Last name says it all. Fast, aggressive and can fly up the field. Nationally recognized in the 200M
– Has a great build for an athlete at this level
– Played his regular season football with Future U
Highlights
– While Ronald Brassfield Ronald Brassfield 5’6″ | 135 lbs | DB AZ was holding things down in the secondary, Kamarii Oakry Kamarii Oakry DB AZ also emerged as a prospect to know
– Kid played hard every rep I watched him. Didn’t matter if it was a wide receiver or defensive back, nor if it was in warm-ups or the actual game
– Got in and out of break very well and didn’t waste movement
– Did a really nice job of high pointing the ball and using his length. The same length, that has made him a Junior Olympian in the hurdles and long jump
