Week ten has come and gone and there were plenty of standout performers in the second week of the WV high school football season. Here are 14 athletes that stood out during week ten of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='854471' first='Aaron' last='Thomas'] - Morgantown '25 RB/DB

The 2023 MoHawk Bowl was one for the ages and quite possibly the best high school football game I've been to this season. Junior running back Aaron "AJ" Thomas had a night to remember for the Mohigans as they topped bitter rival University 26-18 and overcame a two-score first-half deficit. Thomas eclipsed the 200-yard rushing mark in the game and scored three touchdowns behind some explosive runs and tough running. This was the first time I got to see him in person and I came away very impressed with the 2025 prospect who will be an athlete colleges need to know next year for his senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='907236' first='Ethan' last='Jackson'] - University '25 WR/DB

Although the Hawks fell to rival Morgantown in the MoHawk Bowl, junior University WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='907236' first='Ethan' last='Jackson'] had one of the more impressive individual performances I've seen in person this season. Jackson made highlight play after highlight play and did so on both sides of the ball. He's not the biggest athlete but man did he make some tough contested catches and laid it all out on the line. Jackson finished the game with 11 catches for 177 yards and an interception on defense and I don't remember very many of those catches being easy. His stock definitely rose after that performance and he's another 2025 prospect that colleges need to be getting in on while they still can.

[player_tooltip player_id='862778' first='Luke' last='Hudson'] - University '24 QB

Official stats aren't available for University senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='862778' first='Luke' last='Hudson'] but he was impressive in person in their game against Morgantown. He easily had at least 200 yards passing and hit a 39-yard touchdown to classmate [player_tooltip player_id='370311' first='John' last='Coleman'], who was also impressive. Hudson is a lengthy and athletic option at quarterback who has some small college offers right now but I have a scholarship grade on him personally. He was letting his athletes at wideout just make plays and throwing catchable balls which was apparent with [player_tooltip player_id='907236' first='Ethan' last='Jackson'] and Coleman's highlight catches. I thought he showed great command of the Hawks' offense and had an all-around good performance in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='370275' first='Jonny' last='Aya-ay'] - Huntington '24 K

Our first kicker weekly standout of the season may be the best in the state with Huntington's [player_tooltip player_id='370275' first='Jonny' last='Aya-ay']. The senior specialist set a new state record with 71 straight successful kicks in the Highlanders' 86-0 drubbing of St. Albans. Aya-Ay was a perfect 12 for 12 on PAT kicks in the game and showed why he's our #1 ranked kicker in the 2024 class. He's a D1 kicker prospect who has earned offers from G5 schools to date.

[player_tooltip player_id='907809' first='Malachi' last='Lewis'] - Oak Hill '24 ATH

Senior QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='907809' first='Malachi' last='Lewis'] is a big reason why the Oak Hill Red Devils are sitting at 8-1 and having one of their best seasons in recent memory, especially as an AAA school. Lewis scored three touchdowns in the game and was deadly with his arm and his legs as he has been all season. He rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown while also adding another 97 yards passing for two more touchdowns. Lewis accounted for all three Red Devils touchdowns and even broke up the Woodrow Wilson two-point conversion attempt late in the game to secure the 21-19 win.

[player_tooltip player_id='1011963' first='Chance' last='Barker'] - Princeton '26 QB

Super sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1011963' first='Chance' last='Barker'] had a short but efficient night in a 55-0 route of Greenbrier East for the Princeton Tigers. Barker has been the most impressive 2026 QB this season and has put up big numbers in Princeton's high-flying offense. Barker hit on 9 of 10 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns in a shortened game. This performance put him over the 2,000-yard passing mark for the season and he's also thrown for 31 touchdowns to just 2 interceptions.

[player_tooltip player_id='880797' first='Dominick' last='Collins'] - Princeton '24 WR

You could pencil in senior Princeton receiver [player_tooltip player_id='880797' first='Dominick' last='Collins'] nearly every week in our weekly standouts and had another big night in the Tigers' blowout of Greenbrier East. The senior speedster had 3 catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns in the game and even added a third on a 51-yard touchdown run. This is Collins' 7th 100-yard receiving game of the season out of 9 games. He has 1,152 receiving yards on the year and has scored 20 receiving touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id='1076367' first='Isaah' last='Beard'] - Musselman '25 WR

The Musselman Applemen got talented junior receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1076367' first='Isaah' last='Beard'] back this week from an injury that he suffered in week three of the season and he wasted no time getting back on track. The junior speedster ripped off touchdown catches of 23, 27, and a 65-yarder as Musselman cruised to a 43-6 win. Beard finished the night with 4 catches for 136 yards and three touchdowns as Musselman continues to figure things out on offense this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='906644' first='Michael' last='Thompson'] - Musselman '25 QB

Musselman has turned to big junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='906644' first='Michael' last='Thompson'] in the second half of the season and he had his breakout performance against Washington. The 6'6 junior completed 8 of 10 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns on the night. His favorite target was the aforementioned [player_tooltip player_id='1076367' first='Isaah' last='Beard'] who had 136 of his 195 passing yards and all three touchdowns. With his size and basketball background, Thompson has a high ceiling for the position and a name to watch in the 2025 quarterback class.

[player_tooltip player_id='866482' first='Zach' last='Rohrig'] - Bridgeport '24 RB

Senior Bridgeport running back [player_tooltip player_id='866482' first='Zach' last='Rohrig'] had his typical big performance against a very tough Linsly front seven as he's done all season. Rohrig had his 6th performance of having at least 150 rushing yards in a game this season and rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. He added an interception on defense and three tackles in the 28-21 victory for the Indians. In nine games, Rohrig has rushed for 1,300 yards and 17 touchdowns with at least two more games to go.

[player_tooltip player_id='865705' first='Aiden' last='Davis'] - Wheeling Park '25 QB

Junior Wheeling Park quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='865705' first='Aiden' last='Davis'] has been on fire the past few weeks and really all season long. Davis has thrown for 14 touchdowns in the past three games and had four against a solid Parkersburg South team. The Patriots may be the hottest team in Class AAA right now as they're peaking at the right time just before the playoffs begin. This is largely due to the play of Davis who threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns on 9 of 17 passing this past week. He now has thrown for just under 2,000 yards and 26 touchdowns with one interception in just 8 games this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='402800' first='Amar'e' last='Johnson'] - Wheeling Park '26 RB

Another Wheeling Park Patriot who has really come on in the second half of the season is promising sophomore running back [player_tooltip player_id='402800' first='Amar'e' last='Johnson']. After a slow first few games of the season, Johnson and the Wheeling Park coaching staff seem to have figured things out on offense and he's rushed for over 100 yards in 4 out of the past 5 games. In their win against Parkersburg South, Johnson ran for 136 yards on 19 carries for a 7.2 yards per carry average and three touchdowns. He's up to 772 rushing yards this season and 11 touchdowns in just 8 games.

[player_tooltip player_id='880799' first='Mykel' last='Davis'] - Wheeling Park '24 WR

Senior Wheeling Park receiver [player_tooltip player_id='880799' first='Mykel' last='Davis'] continues to see his stock rise this season and had another big performance in the Patriots' 64-14 win over Parkersburg South. Davis averaged an incredible 45.3 yards per catch in the game and finished with 3 catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns. He added a third touchdown on a 75-yard kick return that he housed. Davis is up to 660 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns this season in 8 games.

[player_tooltip player_id='370325' first='Anthony' last='Valentine'] - George Washington '24 ATH

George Washington senior RB/WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='370325' first='Anthony' last='Valentine'] put up 231 all-purpose yards against Capital in a 65-6 win. Valentine had an impact in three different ways and on both offense and special teams in the game. He rushed for 90 yards on 6 carries and a touchdown with a 15 yards per carry average. Valentine added another 77 yards receiving on two catches and another touchdown to bring his total to three on the night. He wasn't finished there as he was also a playmaker on special teams returning two kickoffs for 64 yards and a 32 yards per return average. Valentine now has over 1,000 all-purpose yards on the year with 508 rushing, 431 receiving, and 125 return yards.
