Released a 6-minute junior season tape that caught my eye about two weeks ago. Used creatively by Riverview, has Schultheis receiving misdirection handoffs in the backfield, an area you wouldn’t expect a big tight-end prospect to flourish. Schultheis marries size and play-making ability. Can beat some angles set by DBs. The competition he’s up against is sub-par, doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s seen bullying kids after the catch. Scored seven total times, accumulated 500+ scrimmage yards. Can’t go without speaking about his ability and willingness to block too. Intriguing player.

First rep on tape gives you the gist of the type of athlete you’re dealing with. Duality in his game, first rep shows he’s got numerous ways to escape would-be tacklers in his bag. Primarily working in a five-wide system, Sanders can work his half-field reads through the air, with tucking and running always being a second option. Front-sevens are usually bare, especially when attempting to cover 5W sets, so the middle of the field can be picked apart by this kid. You see flashes of confidence/anticipatory throws shown on tape. Like his base a lot, feet aren’t happy, his lower body moves in unison with itself, he’s free to throw early or deep into his drop back. Working deeper into his tape, I notice occasional reps under center, occasional reps working zone-reads as well as some play-action sets with two men in the backfield. Bensalem throws a ton at this kid, he’s an underclassman who I assume is capable of handling several different sets. Love the reps where he gets the ball out quickly. This could be a special quarterback, one who could rank near some of the bigger names in the state.

Zy’Kerian Reid Zy’Kerian Reid ATH PA is a name deep in the database. Not sure if he’ll get ranked, considering I can’t find substantial freshman/JV tape out of this young man. That being said, I’ve heard from other media outlets that this kid is balling out on the Upper Darby freshman team. I’m a bit surprised a kid with this type of athleticism isn’t seeing the field on varsity yet. He’s going to have to earn everything given to him. He’s a name I’ll stash for the time being. Intrigued by his build, his hurdle on Twitter impressed me as well. Want to know more.

220+ scrimmage yards racked up on offense. Almost 90 total tackles on defense, an impressive start to his career at West Allegheny. Often the safety who rotates down into the box, all reps on tape are Varsity reps, always impressive seeing a freshman produce this way in big boy ball. Can flash from his pre-snap alignment to the linebacking unit. Is one of the more fearless tacklers in terms of throwing around his body weight. Not much body weight to be had, yet opposing ballcarriers are going to feel all 160 pounds this kid brings. Is occasionally brought down to the LOS to occupy an OLB alignment, don’t see that often from kids this size. Can set the edge and force outside runs in from this position. Does one hell of a job filling the alley on sweeps, he sees the lane/alley before backs do. His reps on offense are icing on the cake, this kid is a fantastic DB but his role as the secondary back is only going to expand moving forward. I won’t hold back any feelings on the kid’s game because of his size, I’ve learned my lesson with his older brother. Great player.

Pinned tweet says he started just four games for Hempfield Area, yet threw for over 1,00 yards and averaged just under 3 scores a game. Five wide offense, Detruf has no problem giving his downfield man an opportunity deep. Has the arm and likes to show it off. Lower body almost stays put, a ton of upper body torque to get the ball downfield. Bit of an awkward release, one that gets the job done. Awesome field awareness, Detruf is often seen hitting guys downfield late in the process, or in impromptu situations. Is a threat to improvise with his arm and legs. Doesn’t exactly scream dual-threat but Hempfield is going to call occasional zone-read handoffs for him. Excited to see him refine his game, hopefully, we can see the game slow down a bit for Detruf next Fall. An offseason of work should help.

Has two lengthy tapes, conveying his two-way abilities. Eval based on his offensive tape. Second-most receiving yards in the Ches-Mont American League. Love how this kid comes off the ball. Awesome explosion off the snap, he’s a cushion eater that immediately wakes up opposing matchups. Don’t fall asleep on this kid at the LOS, he’s inclined to blow right by you before you know what’s happening. Stems well when attempting to take a defender vertically. Isn’t just a vertical threat, UV will call drags for the kid occasionally. Awesome ball tracking ability, surprised that I’m just now finding out about the young man. First minute into tape, you’ll see Tarr adjust to balls way outside his radius, all while keeping his speed and helmet to the sky. Can come up with extra yardage on his own after the catch. A lot to like out of this kid and that’s without plugging in his defensive tape. I’ll be sending his name to a few college coaches in need of a wideout.

Eval based on his first-three tape. Seen taking a hitch 50+ yards after breaking a tackle at the catch point. Natural pass-catcher. This kid is hardly pushing 5’7, 150 pounds but comes down with some improbable catches, catch radius is strong below the waist. Numerous special catches along the sideline. Has some quality DB and blocking reps. Want to see production spike up but he’s still an underclassman. This kid could be a serious matchup-breaker working inside of 15 yards. His COD ability, low center of gravity, foot quickness should all add up to a player that no linebacker should find easy to cover. Match his great hands too. I want to see more.

From what I can tell on tape, Seton La Salle likes to deploy three down-linemen with two backers stationed behind them. The rest are a mix of DB/OLB types. Occasionally OLB will come down to the LOS, but a ton of Barone’s tape has him inside a front-five, rather than a front-seven. That being the case, Barone is going to have to carry a big responsibility as a gap-shooter. Barone can’t afford to shoot wrong gaps or hesitate. I can tell he’s been coached well, considering he’s often cleaning up run plays after giving up minimal to no yardage. Great reactor to all things in front of him. Smart football player who keys potential holes pre-snap. On his toes and explosive out of his snap, the little things make up for his “average” size at the position. A football player you can win with.

Boasts 50+ pancakes, his seven-minute-long tape backs that up. Has some reps where he’s pancaking kids twice in one play, this is a young man with a mean streak. Is a grip-and-run type of run-blocker. Can reach the second level of backers, get into that chest plate, and run until flattening much smaller defenders. Ogrodowski dwarfs some LBs and DBs in this conference, yet I won’t hold that against him. Seen down-blocking from his tackle spot, seen an occasional pull from his tackle spot as well. A to-the-whistle tone-setter that must have a ton of fun on Friday nights. Ogrodowski’s tape is easy on the eyes. One worthy of coach’s time. He, as well as Schultheis, would likely benefit from camping away from home and testing the waters outside of league comp.
