Today, we will be continuing my “Kentucky Stock Up Performers” series as we evaluate the top standouts from last week’s slate of contests.
At the top of my list of notable performers is Bo Wolford Bo Wolford 6’3″ | 280 lbs | OL Belfry | 2026 State KY , an offensive lineman at Belfry High School. Wolford and the Pirates fell 24-22 to Bell County this past week. What I like about Wolford’s playstyle is his ability to lock in at the line and combat defensive pressure with his size and strength. Wolford also impresses with his ability to absorb pressure, force disorganization among the defense and prolong the play. Wolford and his teammates on the offensive line have played a crucial role in protecting his quarterback this past season.
Highlights
I am additionally impressed with Dalton Matney Dalton Matney 6’0″ | 190 lbs | LB Johnson Central | 2026 State KY , a linebacker at Johnson Central High School. Matney and the Golden Eagles earned a 28-14 win over Boyd County last week. In addition to solid size and speed off the snap, Matney stands out with his defensive awareness and ability to quickly stop the rush, capitalizing on openings in the pocket. Matney’s versatility and defensive playmaking ability also impresses as he’s proven he can dive for tackles in the pocket to quickly stop the running back.
Claiming the number three spot on my list is Jeffrey Vazzana Jeffrey Vazzana 5’10” | 180 lbs | RB Christian Academy of Louisville | 2026 State KY , a running back at Christian Academy of Louisville. Vazzana and the Centurions picked up a 50-8 blowout victory over Elizabethtown last week. What stands out about Vazzana is his ability to find openings in the pocket and breakaway from the defense in the backfield, showing off bursts of speed and durability as he takes it all the way to the house. I also like Vazzana’s execution and ability to dodge and weave tackles as he boosts production on the ground.
Another skilled prospect to watch for is Riley Hatfield Riley Hatfield 6’2″ | 170 lbs | WR Bardstown | 2025 KY , a wide receiver at Bardstown High School. Hatfield and the Tigers are coming off a 51-48 win over Logan County last week. Hatfield impresses me with his explosive speed off the snap and ability to overwhelm the defense in coverage. Hatfield can exert his strength to push off defenders at the last minute and haul in crucial touchdown passes. Hatfield has also proven himself as a reliable target on short passes, using his versatile edge to maneuver the field and put his team in a solid field position.
Highlights
Isaiah Rigsby
Isaiah Rigsby
Coming in at number five on my list is Isaiah Rigsby, an athlete at South Warren High School. Rigsby and the Spartans fell 53-22 to Owensboro this past week. What stands out the most about Rigsby is his breakaway speed and ability to attack the ball in the air, showcasing his ability to stun the defense down the stretch with his relentless toughness and catching ability. I also like how Rigsby can seperate himself from the defense, using his footwork to quickly change directions and get open for deep passes.
Tytus Brown
Tytus Brown
Also worth mentioning is Tytus Brown, a defensive lineman at Franklin-Simpson High School. Brown and the Wildcats fell short in a close 23-22 loss to Union County last week. Brown makes an impact due to his size, quickness off the snap and overall stopping power. Brown has proven he can be unstoppable in the pocket, using his arm strength to blast past the offensive line, find openings and make commanding stops. Brown’s ability to knock the ball out also impresses me, hitting the defense hard to force turnovers.
