The Good Counsel Falcons and the DeMatha Stags faced-off in the 2023 WCAC Championship game earlier this week in Annapolis, MD. The epic contest did not disappoint, and, in the end, the Good Counsel Falcons were victorious! This WCAC title game was a defensive battle for the ages, so let's take a look at the standout players from this championship!

2024 6'3 220 LB - CJ Kubbah-Taylor - Good Counsel

C.J. Kubbah-Taylor recorded the final tackle of the 2023 season for the Good Counsel Falcons, officially securing the WCAC Championship for his team. He was named 1st Team All-WCAC at the LB position earlier this week, so there will definitely be more D1 offers heading his way. Kubbah-Taylor already possesses elite offers from programs such as: Navy, Temple, UNCC, Marshall, Maine, Colgate, Delaware State, and more. CJ Kubbah-Taylor remains one of the top uncommitted linebackers in the DMV's 2024 class, and I believe he will instantly make any defense a lot better with his presence. Scouts all across the DMV area must know the name CJ Kubbah-Taylor if they do not already!

2024 6'3 215 LB - [player_tooltip player_id='172218' first='Aaron' last='Chiles'] - Good Counsel - Florida

The future Florida Gator, [player_tooltip player_id='172218' first='Aaron' last='Chiles'], delivered his best season yet in 2023, and he proved that he absolutely has what it takes to compete in the most dominant conference in all of college football- the SEC. Chiles made big tackle after big tackle in the WCAC championship game, and he's clearly going to be a dominant force at the next level. Chiles also earned the D.C. Touchdown Club's Player of the Week Award for his tremendous performance in the title game, adding yet another stellar piece of hardware to his trophy case. [player_tooltip player_id='172218' first='Aaron' last='Chiles'] ends his high school career as the 59th overall ranked player in his class, according to the ESPN 300 rankings, and I believe that he will have a stellar college career at the University of Florida!

2024 6'0 190 RB - [player_tooltip player_id='249102' first='Dilin' last='Jones'] - Good Counsel - Wisconsin

[player_tooltip player_id='249102' first='Dilin' last='Jones'] scored the lone touchdown in this contest, and, as he did all season, he scored from inside the redzone. Jones cemented himself as my selection for 1st Team All-WCAC running back, and I'd be shocked if he does not receive that honor. He will absolutely become the starting RB1 for his soon to be alma mater-Wisconsin Badgers- eventually, and my prediction is that it will be sooner rather than later. Jones runs with a lot of physicality, and I believe that his running style will translate perfectly to the BIG10. [player_tooltip player_id='249102' first='Dilin' last='Jones'] was an integral part of Good Counsel's program for the entirety of his high school career, and he will definitely be that same force of productivity in Madison, WI for the Badgers during his collegiate career!

2025 5'7 175 RB/WR - [player_tooltip player_id='924572' first='Joseph' last='Williams'] - Good Counsel

[player_tooltip player_id='924572' first='Joseph' last='Williams'] ran the ball extremely well for the Falcons in this championship game, and he proved that the future of Good Counsel's backfield is in very good hands. He earned 2nd Team All-WCAC honors this week for his incredible season, and he did so with far fewer carries than most. It's safe to say that Williams will have full command of Good Counsel's RB1 duties for the 2024 season. Scouts across the nation must know the name [player_tooltip player_id='924572' first='Joseph' last='Williams']!

2024 6'2 265 DL - [player_tooltip player_id='249993' first='Emmett' last='Laws'] - DeMatha - Virginia Tech

The WCAC Defensive Player of the Year Award belongs to [player_tooltip player_id='249993' first='Emmett' last='Laws'] in 2023. Laws led his DeMatha team to a dominant season which nearly ended in a championship victory. The soon to be Virginia Tech Hokie is absolutely a standout recruit from the 2024 class, and he is beyond ready for the elite level of play in the ACC. My prediction is that [player_tooltip player_id='249993' first='Emmett' last='Laws'] earns All-Conference honors during his time in Blacksburg, VA. If there's any recruit from the DMV's 2024 class that could play the game beyond the collegiate level, in my opinion, it's [player_tooltip player_id='249993' first='Emmett' last='Laws'] of DeMatha.
