Week 7: Top Defensive Performances!

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Week 7 was a great week across the state with a ton of terrific matchups, here we are checking out some of the best defensive performances last week, and man, these guys showed up!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["744119"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='744119' first='Bishop' last='Burkhalter'] is a standout linebacker for Spanish Fort in his junior season, this year he has been dominating tons of offenses across the state and had himself a terrific night last Thursday. Burkhalter was a force to be reckoned with against McGill Toolen- all throughout the game he made play after play, recording 12 total tackles (including two tackles for loss) and two pass breakups. It didn't matter what McGill Toolen was trying to do offensively, Burkhalter found himself flying around the field to make tackles and plays on the ball- both against the run, and in coverage. In addition to his his dominance on defense, Burkhalter had a day on special teams as well, returning a 90-yard field goal for a touchdown and a 45-yard punt for another touchdown as well. Keep an eye on Burkhalter and this Spanish Fort as we continue through the fall, they are 6-2 on the year and have been rolling this season.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["352326"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='352326' first='Ethan' last='Johnson'] is a dynamic linebacker in his senior year for Shades Valley and has delivered a handful of bigtime performances this season, but especially against Pell City last week. Johnson made a ton of huge contributions to his team's success as he was able to record 19 total tackles, an interception, and also an fumble recovery. All throughout the game Johnson had a massive impact- he has a great ability to make critical stops and disrupt opposing offenses in a ton of different ways, he can fly around the field to make tackles, can cover and make plays on the ball, and has the motor to play every snap with maximum effort. Wood had a huge day against their offense and recorded a ton of stats- in total he racked up 15 tackles (5 of them for loss), with two sacks as well. Wood was all over the place, he made a significant impact against the run and pass, consistently setting the edge and getting into the backfield to make big plays for loss. Wood has been having a great season this fall and has been doing a ton for that Austin front, keep an eye on them going forward- he's a fun player to watch!","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["769152"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='1046451' first='Braylon' last='Outlaw'] is an incredibly dynamic linebacker for Pike Road and last week he had a fantastic game against Russell County. Throughout the game, Outlaw totaled up 10 tackles, a sack, and two interceptions- making a huge impact in every phase on defense. Outlaw demonstrated his high football IQ and his ability to make impactful plays, whether it's against the run or pass- he was able to get after the quarterback, stopped the run, and even was able to lock up opposing receivers and secure some interceptions. Outlaw made some outstanding contributions in the game and was instrumental in his team's success, it didn't matter what Russell County tried, he seemed to have an answer.
