Burkhalter can make plays all over the field- he has some serious athleticism and can easily make plays from sideline to sideline. Burkhalter flies around the field, is a fantastic tackler, and consistently finds ways to make impactful plays while also opening up opportunities for his teammates. Burkhalter is also extremely instinctual- he has a great feel for what he needs to and where he needs to be every snap- constantly on tape you can find him recognizing and anticipating plays within just a few milliseconds. Burkhalter has been unstoppable his whole career, this year he recorded 155 total tackles (62 solo, 14 for loss), 2 sacks, and 4 pass breakups. Burkhalter has picked up a ton of recruiting attention over the last few seasons, and rightfully so. Burkhalter has been terrific this season and is coming off a huge performance against Murphy. Burkhalter played extremely well and was a huge part of why Spanish Fort’s defense only allowed 6 points in a 44-6 victory. Burkhalter flew all around the field to rack up a bunch of tackles, generate pressure on the quarterback, and make plays on special teams. It was especially impressive to watch Burlhalter find the endzone twice throughout this game- he was unstoppable on all accounts. All of this showed up on tape against Murphy as Burkhalter ended the game with 11 total tackles (3 for loss), 2 sacks, a safety, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, and a punt return for a touchdown against Murphy. Be sure to watch Burkhalter the rest of this season, he’s consistently been a top defender in the state over the last two years and is bound to keep making plays!

His standout play included a tackle for safety and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Additionally, he showcased his versatility with a punt return for a touchdown, proving his ability to make game-changing plays across the field.

He will line up as a traditional LB, play off the edge, and even cover a receiver in the slot. He is a good athlete, but his instincts allow him to wear multiple hats. He is always around the ball and arrives on time. His acceleration to impact is put on full display, opening up his stride and quickly getting to the ball carrier to make tackles. He is light on his feet and moves well laterally, allowing him to mirror the football and keep his shoulders squared to the ball carrier. It also allows him to get to a full stride easier. On underneath route concepts, he can match footwork well enough to give himself a chance, and he plays through receivers’ hands when breaking up passes. Burkhalter will play at the D1 level, and he has a chance to make plays all over the field.
