We all know how phenomenal Jaden Lawrence Jaden Lawrence 6'0" | 185 lbs | RB Legend | 2025 State CO (98 total yards with 3 TDs) and Jeff Baca Jeff Baca 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Legend | 2024 State CO (3 receptions for 85 yards) are, so I wanted to highlight some players that aren’t mentioned as much. Here are the players that stood out the most during this matchup.
Payton Auckland
Payton Auckland
Auckland had a phenomenal game against the Wolverines. He had 6 total tackles (3 solo and 3 assisted) with 1 of them being a tackle for loss. As the punt returner, he accumulated 109 yards on 4 punts including 1 electrifying touchdown. As a DB, Auckland watches the QB’s eyes and follows where they will go. This is one of the reasons why he is always near the ball carrier. He has a high motor and even if he’s playing out as a deep safety, you’ll see him run into the box to make a play.
Wilkins Persichina
Wilkins Persichina
Even in the loss against the Titans, Persichina showed up. He had 12 rushing yards combined with 38 receiving yards for 1 rushing TD. Even when the Wolverines were down 48-0, he demonstrated grit and mental toughness as he continued to play hard for his team. He has good acceleration, change of direction, and speed to beat the top of a defense. Persichina defeats the defense consistently on go routes thanks to his home-run speed. He will adjust above and behind his body to catch overthrown balls. At 5’9”, he’s still a physical receiver and will go up for the ball for contested catches. Even though the Wolverines lost, Persichina was a bright spot to build off of.
Nate Sandy
Nate Sandy
Nate Sandy had another great showing. He accounted for 5 total tackles (3 solo, and 2 assisted). 3 of those tackles were for a loss. Sandy is a like a heat seeking missile on the field. He has good downhill speed to run through gaps and get tackles for loss. Since he has played RB before, he has the knowledge of the gaps and utilizes that knowledge to his advantage. Sandy has a high motor, and will run straight to the ball carrier. He is aware of where the ball is at at all times, and his stats show that. Sandy is the heartbeat to that Legend Titans defense, and once again he didn’t disappoint.
Aiden Parker
Aiden Parker
At 6’4” 170 lbs, Aiden Parker is the stereotypical size for a big player possession receiver. Throughout this season at Legend, Parker hasn’t seen a whole lot of playing time. That changed when the Titans were up big against the Wolverines. Parker was inserted into the lineup and made an impact on the field in the running game and the passing game. With 1 reception for 21 yards, the stats don’t tell the full story of his performance. Parker was physical in blocking defenders, using his big frame to create pivotal holes for the WRs & RBs. He has good ball tracking. His one catch came on a 3rd down, when they needed a 1st. Big contested catch downfield for the 1st down. Looking forward to seeing what more he can do in his final season at Legend.
Troy was electric when the ball was in his hand. He had 3 carries for 116 yards and 2 TDs. With the game already in hand for Legend, McWhorter didn’t let that stop him from having a great game. He had 2 breakaway touchdowns with his home run speed. The defense couldn’t keep up with him. Great straight line speed with good vision to create these big plays at the LOS. He is only a sophomore with a ton left to grow. I’m excited to see more of what he can do in the future!
