Manheim Township. Manheim Township clinched a 10-0 season by beating Wilson on Friday night. Going 10-0 is special, but beating everyone by a margin of 48-9 is incredible. Manheim Township has only played one close game all year and it was against Wilson Friday night when they won 49-34. Manheim Township will have a chance to win a District Championship but will have to beat Harrisburg probably in the District Championship game.
Team of the week:
Central York. Central York concluded their season with a 10-0 record on Friday night when they beat rival York High. 37-6. A super impressive effort by Central York. They beat two Mid-Penn Conference teams during the non-conference schedule, in Central Dauphin and Cumberland Valley. This also marked their 5th straight York-Adams Division 1 Title.
Coach of the week:
Kris Miller Ephrata. When Kris Miller took over at Ephrata they were on a long losing streak. The losing streak reached 52 games until they beat Northern Lebanon in 2018. So Friday night when Ephrata beat Elizabethtown to clinch an 8-2 record and win a share of the Section 2 Title Miller and the Ephrata program were excited. Next up is a playoff game. Good for Miller and Ephrata.
Play of the week:
One of the big trends in High School football is the RPOs (run-pass options). Simply it is a run game and a pass play called and the quarterback reads a defender to determine whether to hand it off or throw it. Below is the RPO with a slant. It’s a great concept I have seen this season.
Prospects of the week:
Highlights
Brandon Way Lancaster Catholic. Way has started all year at cornerback and has played well. On offense, he is a running back but has been stuck behind Elijah Cunningham Elijah Cunningham 5'10" | 200 lbs | RB Lancaster Catholic | 2024 State PA . With Cunningham hobbled, Way got his 1st start at running back and he did not disappoint. He had 24 carries, 132 yards, and a touchdown in the win for Lancaster Catholic.
Jayden Johnson
Jayden Johnson
Jayden Johnson Conestoga Valley. I finally saw Johnson live last night after watching his highlights most of the year. Well against Muhlenberg he scored 3 touchdowns. Two of the touchdowns were rushing touchdowns and one touchdown was receiving. Johnson is a special talent. He has a great combination of speed and elusiveness. Conestoga Valley plays him as a slot receiver and running back. Moving him around lets him make plays all over the field.
Liam Cheek
Liam Cheek
Liam Cheek Conestoga Valley. Cheek is the starting quarterback of Conestoga Valley. It was the 1st time I saw him play as well. He has great size at the position standing 6’2″ inches tall. He threw one interception he loved to have back, but other than that he played well. He threw three touchdown passes on the evening. Overall he played well.
Jackson Landis Jackson Landis 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Hempfield | 2024 State PA Hempfield. Hempfield has had a tough season, but Jackson Landis Jackson Landis 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Hempfield | 2024 State PA has played well most of the year for them. In his last game as a High School player, Landis played well in Friday night’s victory over Reading. Landis threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for 44 yards and two touchdowns as well.
Highlights
Juelz Goff Juelz Goff 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Central York | 2024 State PA Colorado. Goff has had a sensational Senior year for Central York. In Friday’s win against York High, he ran for 3 touchdowns and constantly rushed for big plays all night. Goff a Pitt commit has been the key player all year for Central York and will be the key to them making a playoff run.
