Class 2A Round 2 Players to Watch - Southern Region

<p>Round 2 for the IHSAA Class 2A Playoffs is right around the corner. This article will highlight some key players from Round 1 and set the scene for Friday's games. Keep an eye out for these southern region players this Friday!</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Forest Park (6-4) vs. Paoli (9-1)</h2>   <p>Forest Park will travel to Paoli for Round 2. Forest Park is coming off a Round 1 victory against Mitchell 57-7. Paoli beat Crawford County 48-14 in Round 1. This game will be won on the ground and a battle between the two starting RBs. Paoli (Sr.) RB [player_tooltip player_id='542014' first='Trey' last='Rominger'] had a monster game against Mitchell in the 1st round. He carried the ball 5 times for 232 yards and 4 TDs. Forest Park's (So.) RB Jaxon Lueken was efficient in their win against Crawford County in Round 1. He had 9 carries, 172 yards, and 3 TDs. These two should be fun to watch on Friday night!</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">North Posey (9-1) vs. Evansville Mater Dei (3-7)</h2>   <p>Evansville Mater Dei will host North Posey in Round 2. Evansville Mater Dei won in a nail bitter against Tell City 30-27 in the first round. North Posey crushed Perry Central 55-8 in the first round. This matchup will be another game won on the ground. Mater Dei has struggled through the air all season. North Posey has been successful on the ground all season. They are led by (Sr.) QB Liam Stone went 5/9, 180 yards, 3 passing TDs, 3 carries, 81 yards, and 2 rushing TDs against Perry Central in Round 1. North Posey has two backs that have been successful this year. Colton Gardner (Sr.) RB and [player_tooltip player_id='196689' first='Jed' last='Galvin'] (Jr.) RB will play a significant role in Friday's game. Gardner and Galvin each had a TD in the first round. North Posey will look for redemption following last season's sectional championship loss to Mater Dei 35-0.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Switzerland County (6-4) vs. Eastern (4-6)</h2>   <p>Switzerland County will be on the road at Eastern in Round 2. Switzerland County won a tight one against Brown County 28-21 in the first round. Eastern won comfortably against Christel House 49-29 in Round 1. Eastern will have a strong attack on the ground with (Sr.) RB Nathan McBride and (Jr.) RB [player_tooltip player_id='553106' first='Brayden' last='Jones']. McBride had 21 carries, 185 yards, and 3 TDs in Round 1. Jones had 15 carries, 140 yards, and 2 TDs in the first round. Their defense is led by (Sr.) DL [player_tooltip player_id='797498' first='Caleb' last='King']. King had 6 solos, 2 assists, 8 total tackles, 4 TFLs, and 2 sacks against Christel House. Switzerland County and Eastern were both first-round exits last season and will be fighting for the chance to play in the sectional championship.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Triton Central (9-1) vs. Brownstown Central (9-1)</h2>   <p>Brownstown Central will be home against Triton Central in Round 2. Triton Central dominated Clarksville 41-6 in the first round. Triton will be led by (Sr.) QB [player_tooltip player_id='322399' first='Jace' last='Stuckey'] and (Sr.) RB [player_tooltip player_id='109632' first='Ray' last='Crawford']. Stuckey went 7/9, 175 yards, 2 passing TDs, 4 carries, 55 yards, and 2 rushing TDs in Round 1. Crawford's first-round performance consisted of 4 carries, 78 yards, and 2 TDs. Brownstown Central took down Indianapolis Scecina Memorial 56-27 in Round 1. Brownstown had a few standout performances in their first-round victory. Micah Sheffer (So.) QB went 3/7, 136 yards, and 2 TDs. Hudson Fritz (Sr.) WR was on the end of two passes for 115 yards and a long of 77 yards. Brownstown will also lean on (Sr.) RB Lane Zike had 26 carries for 142 yards. This matchup will be a rematch from last season's playoffs when Triton Central won 24-19 on the road.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cascade (6-4) vs. Southmont (5-5)</h2>   <p>Cascade will be on the road against Southmont in Round 2. Cascade cruised to a victory against South Vermillion 41-20 in Round 1. (So.) RB [player_tooltip player_id='533144' first='Toby' last='Savini'] led the team in rushing with 21 carries and 125 yards. Damien Appleby (Sr.) RB contributed on the ground with 10 carries, 85 yards, and 2 TDs. Cascade ran the ball 62 times and rushed for 326 yards in Round 1. Southmont beat Sullivan 32-21 in the first round. Nolan Boyer (Sr.) QB led the charge for Southmont in Round 1 with 11 carries, 103 yards, and 1 TD. Avery Stadler (So.) RB was a workhorse for Southmont, carrying the ball 13 times for 102 yards and 1 TD. Keep an eye out for (Sr.) LB [player_tooltip player_id='541924' first='Wyatt' last='Woodall'] in Round 2. He had 4 solos, 6 assists, 10 total tackles, 2 TFLs, and 1 sack in the first round.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Greencastle (8-2) vs. Linton-Stockton (9-1)</h2>   <p>Greencastle will travel to Linton-Stockton in Round 2. Linton-Stockton won handsomely 48-14 against North Knox in Round 1. Linton will be led by (So.) QB [player_tooltip player_id='560092' first='Paul' last='Oliver'] on Friday night. The sophomore QB carried the ball 11 times for 100 yards and 2 TDs in the first round. His counterpart for the majority of the game was (Jr.) Jesse Voigtschild. Jesse had 11 carries, 94 yards, and 2 TDs in Round 1. Greencastle won in a close one against North Putnam 30-29. [player_tooltip player_id='972103' first='Lamar' last='Moore'] (Sr.) RB had a tremendous game for Greencastle in Round 1 and will be a prospect to have your eyes on in this one. He carried the ball 35 times for 231 yards and 4 TDs. Moore played both ways and showed up on defense, making 10 tackles and 1 TFL. Another defensive stud for Greencastle was (Fr.) LB [player_tooltip player_id='1128491' first='Parker' last='Welker'] with 8 solos, 6 assists, 14 total tackles, and 1 TFL. This matchup will be entertaining to watch, and keep an eye on these playmakers!</p>
