About Parker
Expert Analysis
Sam Erman | Prep Redzone Scout
Welker has been a leader for the Greencastle defense since week 1 of his freshman year. He’s always been a tackling machine who is always near the ball 1 way or another. He can press the line and create pressure, and then drop back into coverage or play the run. He’s got good gap discipline and knows how to use his length near the line. He can get off blocks fairly easily and wrap up with 1 hand. He’s developed his frame throughout his highschool career and it’s helped round out his game. Through 33 games, he has 405 tackles, 238 being solos, 30 TFLs, 6 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles.

He ran the ball and caught it some this year, however he took a huge jump defensively. Welker amassed 157 total tackles, 14 TFLs, 3 sacks, 1 interception, and forced a fumble.

Welker has quickly went from a young player with potential to one of, if not the leader for his defense. The performance he put up on Friday speaks volumes to his future and potential. With his 12 tackles and 4 TFLs on Friday, he led the game in both categories, and then he blocked a punt as well. With 230 career tackles through 2 years, it’s clear Welker can play at a high level for extended periods of time.

Welker had a fantastic freshman year and has only built upon what he did as a freshman. He’s a tough hard-hitting linebacker with good range and vision on the field. He’s already surpassed 200 career tackles and 15 TFLs in just 2 years of Varsity ball. By the time he graduates, he could easily be one of the highest-decorated recruits in the class.

After the freshman season Welker just put up, he’s absolutely deserving of the eyes he gets. He’s big, physical, and is a ball-hawk. He doesn’t take much time to diagnose what he’s seeing in front of him. He’s a bit ahead of schedule with his weight room development so he’s able to break free from blocks and make the tackle when the ball comes his way. If not, he’ll run them down and make the play. 90 tackles, 6 TFLs, 2 sacks, an interception, and 3 forced fumbles round out his first year on Varsity.
