picked up his first offer from Illinois State. Expect more to come for the 6-foot-2, 205-pound quarterback as college coaches get an in-person look at him this spring. He threw for 3,747 yards, ranked No. 9 in the nation and No. 1 in the state, in passing yards in 2025.

has a very good and accurate quarterback with good rhythm and timing between the hashes. Flashing great touch on the deep ball, a quick release and good mobility to elude rushers, Stephens finished last season with a remarkable stat line: a state-leading 3,747 passing yards, 41 passing touchdowns, and 70 percent completion percentage. Stephens has a chance to break out this summer on the camp circuit.

A pocket-passer with precise accuracy, good football IQ, and who takes care of the football, Stephens does it all for Greencastle. Through 3 seasons starting, he’s completed a staggering 67% of his throws for 9234 yards and 110 total TDs with only 22 interceptions.

Stephens is a very good young quarterback. As a rising junior, he has a chance to seriously land on recruiting radars. He throws with excellent accuracy, timing and touch on the deep ball, and is mobile enough to elude rushers and buy time. He has had a strong summer camp showing, too, and I’d expect his college interest to grow. Last year, he backed up a strong freshman season with 2,812 yards passing and 29 touchdowns.

Stephens is an incredibly efficient, accurate, smart, and poised quarterback who has done nothing but move the ball and score touchdowns without turning the ball over since Day 1. Through 2 years of high school ball, he’s already amassed 5500 passing yards, 63 TDs to 17 INTs on just under 65% completion. He has the frame and height to play high-level ball, and he processes the game. Stephens is one of those guys who will blow up once one school decides to take a peek at the smaller school stud.

Stephens has put up stellar back-to-back campaigns and continues to check off boxes for his development. With 5400 passing yards, 63 TDs to only 17 INTs, all while completing 64.6% of his throws, Stephens has proven he’s top-tier for Greencastle.

Stephens’s development from year 1 to year 2 has been clear as day, and although they lost on Friday, he gave his team everything. He was efficient, made big throws, and kept plays alive with his legs. On the evening, Stephens went 28-36 for 400 yards and 3 TDs. I think Greencastle is a sneaky good team to watch next year to make a deep run as long as Stephens stays healthy.

A big-time QB name to know out of the Midwest with potential national implications, Greencastle’s freshman phenom Cole Stephens set two single-game state records in 2023 after a fantastic showing in September that netted him 572 passing yards and 10 TDs, in a single game. Yes, in one and one game only. Hard not to think the kid could be bound for the brightest of lights in a few years, and he has already begun to live up to the hype this Summer Camp SZN, earning an FBS offer out of the MAC from Miami of Ohio. Great offer to kickstart the recruitment, and Stephens, a 6’2, 175 lber. who reports a 33″ vert, shows off accuracy and arm talent in spades in his freshman the tape. A pocket passer with a strong arm and one of the more impressive freshman tapes I’ve ever seen accuracy-wise, Stephens can really sling the rock around. He shows notable velocity and zip on his intermediate and second-level throws that can fit the ball into tight windows and right through the outstretched palms of waiting DBs, and is able to put the ball on a rope or drop it into a bucket with as much in-game confidence and execution as I’ve seen from a QB his age. Stephens scans the field, sees the defense, and makes snappy decisions that keep his offense moving and can stretch the field on a defense. and displays a strong arm with a quick release, good timing, and surefire mechanics that really pop on tape. Stephens completed 154 of his passes on 229 attempts for 2,675 yards as a freshman, including a 17.4 YPC average and a whopping 34 TDs through the air. His efforts helped Greencastle to an 8-3 record in 2023, along with his 67% completion percentage. For me, winning, accuracy, and ball security are my three big checkmarks for a QB prospect, and Stephens is possessing all three very early. Pay attention, this kid could be making national waves soon.
