Before we even had an opportunity to catch our breath, the final week of the 2023 high school football season in Colorado has arrived far too soon. Before we break down our upcoming playoff coverage in the coming week, let’s take a moment to appreciate the countless amount of seniors who have put their blood, sweat, and tears on the football field and have simply given it their all. Without delay, let’s get down to the nitty gritty and acknowledge this year’s senior class that have one more Friday Night Lights moment in them!
Despite Valor’s somewhat of a “down” season at 5-4, Weiner has still been an incredible leader and will have a chance to lead his team on a deep postseason run. All together, the senior quarterback has demonstrated great pocket awareness all season long which is a big reason why he has amassed nearly 1,500 yards through the air.

An absolute beast up front, Mr. Fa’apouli’s future is brighter than the sun. Towering at 6’6″ and weighing in at 340 pounds, the Fountain-Fort Carson product has experience playing both sides of the ball and whoever gives this young man a chance at the next level will not be disappointed!
An All-State/Conference wideout, CJ Reese CJ Reese 6’3″ | WR ThunderRidge | 2024 State CO is an absolute pest on both sides of the ball. In his senior season, Reese has hauled in 33 receptions and has developed a nose for the end zone with four touchdowns. As reliable as they come, Reese is also sure handed and rarely has a bad case of the drops. Truly, this young bull is a certified playmaker and will be missed at Mountain Vista.

One of the state’s top interior lineman, Carson Caplan Carson Caplan 6’3″ | 285 lbs | OL Pine Creek | 2024 State CO isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and be a major difference maker both in pass and run blocking. At first glance, Caplan also possesses perfect size at the guard position and will be a fantastic addition tat an Ivy school like Cornell. Without a doubt, make sure to keep tabs on the Pine Creek product at the next level!

Not only is Sawchuk one of the finest running backs that the Centennial State has to offer, but he also possesses rare quick twitch muscles at the running back position. Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Valor standout has found the end zone a total of ten times during his senior campaign and will be an electrifying piece for the Eagles come playoff time.

Clearly, this Iowa State commit seemingly always produces whenever his team needs him the most. Gifted with impeccable lateral speed along with the necessary strength to lower the shoulder and pick up extra yardage, running back Mason Miller Mason Miller 5’11” | 155 lbs | WR CO is second on the team in touchdowns and will no doubt be an intriguing name to watch when the playoffs kick off next week.

Another Pine Creek standout to be included on this list, it is starting to make sense why the Eagles enter the final week of the season with only one loss next to their names. Even though National Tight End Day was last Sunday, Kai Goetze Kai Goetze 6’3″ | 230 lbs | TE Pine Creek | 2024 State CO deserves to be celebrated everyday within the Eagles program as he’s the definition of steady. Although he is more than capable in the passing game, he is a dominant run blocker and has been a big reason why Pine Creek has rushed for more than 2,000 yards on the year.

Surely enough, Holden Wright Holden Wright 6’3″ | 225 lbs | ATH Palmer Ridge | 2024 State CO out of Palmer Ridge deserves all the recognition in the world. A four-year starter at the varsity level, Wright is about to cap off his senior season with big-time performances on both sides of the football. Whether it’s racking up eight rushing touchdowns as a halfback or bringing down ball carriers with a whopping 14 tackles for loss, the 6’3″, 214-pound two-way star is not to be messed with!

Not only is his name one of the coolest in the state, but Johnson is also an absolute mammoth of a body within the heart of the Cherry Creek defense. Believe it or not, but this young man knows how to wreak havoc and often acts like a black hole that suffocates his opponents with force. In my opinion, Johnson is one of and if not the top defensive lineman in the state. Wherever Johnson will call his home at the next level will be lucky to have him.

Another talented and powerful offensive lineman to be included on this list, Tristan Randall Tristan Randall 6’3″ | 265 lbs | OL Pine Creek | 2024 State CO is a bonafide stud. With the versatility to play both right and left tackle, Randall has ideal size while serving as an important piece to Pine Creek’s offensive line. Ladies and gentleman, I promise that I’m not biased towards Pine Creek… the Eagles just have too much talent to ignore!

A freakish athlete who knows how to make plays in the backfield, EDGE rusher Jermaine Amaya Jermaine Amaya 6’0″ | 190 lbs | DL Eaglecrest | 2024 State CO has put together a more than impressive high school career. With a trio of sacks to go along with 37 total tackles on the season, don’t be surprised if this talented defender makes plenty of noise this postseason.

Folks, there is no denying that Mr. Olson is the real deal. As a matter of fact, the Loveland superstar may be the most valuable player throughout the entire state of Colorado. While many individuals are more than able to day they belong in that conversation, not many can say they lead their team in rushing and receiving. While that would be magnificent as it is, Olson also is Loveland’s fifth-leading tackler. Simply put, he is the best athlete on the field at all times and I’m not sure that can be debated.

C’mon now!!! We need some long snapper love on this list! Heading into this season, Maddox Broughton Maddox Broughton 6’0″ | 215 lbs | LS Valor Christian | 2024 State CO is considered the top long snapper in the state and for good reason! Already with a collegiate offer from Air Force, there is no question that Valor Christian have been better off with Maddox Broughton Maddox Broughton 6’0″ | 215 lbs | LS Valor Christian | 2024 State CO going above and beyond at the long snapper position.

Ryland Reetz
Ryland Reetz
Yes, you read that correctly! Not only is Ryland Reetz out of Estes Park High School towering at 6’6″, but the senior also possesses quite the rocket for an arm! Heading into the final weekend of games, Reetz has fired 22 strikes in the air for touchdowns and is obviously Estes Park’s top playmaker for a reason. As it stands, Reetz also ranks second throughout the entire state in passing yards with 2,403 total! Impressive stuff!
Dylan Hurne
Dylan Hurne
Playing his ball at tiny 1A Rye High School, running back Dylan Hurne has not disappointed. In fact, very few ball carriers have been as dominant and overwhelmingly commanding this season. Indeed, Hurne has racked up an exuberant 28 touchdowns with 1,893 yards on 194 carries. Acting as the state’s leading rusher and touchdown scorer, this young man is a certified beast with the rock in his hands. Obviously, this 6’4″ behemoth of a tailback needs more recognition than he currently is getting and definitely deserves to be recognized!

One of my favorites at the linebacker position, Landen Holloway Landen Holloway 5’11” | 205 lbs | LB Denver East | 2024 State CO has left his mark on the football field over the course of his high school career and will no doubt find success at the college level. Although slightly undersized at 5’11”, Holloway is still a one-man wrecking crew who isn’t afraid of no one. With elite lateral quickness and his balanced ability to stop the run while providing over the top coverage against the pass, the Denver East star has also remarkably tallied 23.0 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks next to his name this fall. With his first DI offer coming earlier this month, the future is more than bright for this young man!

As fluid and fundamentally sound of a corner back that you can find at the high school level, there is no question that Regis Jesuit will miss the services of their defensive back in Lawson Douglas Lawson Douglas 6’1″ | 170 lbs | DB Regis Jesuit | 2024 State CO following the season. Currently committed to the University of Pennsylvania, Douglas has nabbed four interceptions during the 2023 season including a sick 69-yard pick-six in the win versus Legend. Simply put, this speedster has big-time play written all over him.

Last and certainly not least, Roosevelt QB Bronco Hartson Bronco Hartson 6’0″ | 195 lbs | QB Roosevelt | 2024 State CO has wore his heart on his sleeve over the course of the last several seasons and has been a main reason why the Roughriders have rose to the cream of the crop in the class of 3A. Overall, Hartson’s athletic ability and knack to extend plays from outside the pocket is what makes him so special. As a result, Hartson has rushed for 532 yards as a bonafide dual threat. Overall, Hartson has thrown for 17 touchdowns and will be an intriguing name to keep tabs on this upcoming postseason in an attempt to lead his team to back-to-back state titles.
We’re 7-1 through week 8. 1-0 mindset. We play another talented & tough opponent this week too.
