Huntley’s Week 5 Picks

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Each week, I pick the top seven games in Southern California.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I had a nice week last week going 6-1.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at the top games this week and who I think will come out victorious.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>CAJON VS. ETIWANDA</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Cajon suffered its first loss of the season last week to Lincoln, who is likely the top team in San Diego this year. The loss was Cajon's first regular season loss to a California team since 2019. <strong>Jamel Sly </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='412474' first='Izaiah' last='Holley']</strong> will look to run the ball for Cajon and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='683638' first='Ahamad' last='Chapman']</strong> has three interceptions to lead the defense. Etiwanda won the Division 5 championship last season and is undefeated. ST. PAUL</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>St. Paul lost to Downey last week and lost its starting quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='398420' first='Andrew' last='Maushardt'] to a leg injury. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='338540' first='Gabriel' last='Castaneda']</strong> did a fine job filling in but the team only managed to score one touchdown. Servite is coming off a bye after a major upset win over Los Alamitos. VISTA MURRIETA</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rancho Cucamonga is 5-0 and has big wins over Murrieta Valley, Servite, Valencia and Bishop Amat. GRANITE HILLS</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Madison is coming off a bye after a tough loss to a very good Helix team. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='115441' first='James' last='Tivao']</strong> is one of the better defensive players in San Diego and <strong>Titus Toilolo</strong> is high on the San Diego top player list as well. Granite Hills is 4-0 with impressive wins over St. Augustine and Mission Hills. SAN CLEMENTE</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>San Clemente is 5-0 and coming off convincing wins over Corona del Mar and Edison. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='797084' first='Aiden' last='Rubin']</strong> has emerged as a top senior running back in the county and [player_tooltip player_id='273584' first='Dylan' last='Mills'] has been mistake-free at quarterback. The Triton's defense is lights out with [player_tooltip player_id='820596' first='Matai' last='Tagoa'i'], <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='976882' first='Lee' last='Fuimaono']</strong> and others leading the charge. [player_tooltip player_id='282686' first='Bear' last='Bachmeier'] is one of the top passers in the Section and Asa Chatman is an effective running back. DAMIEN</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>La Serna is coming off a bye after a great road win over Tesoro where [player_tooltip player_id='684239' first='Owen' last='Long'] had a great performance. <strong>CJ Ceron</strong> is at La Serna now after being the quarterback for Cathedral just last week, but La Serna may stick with <strong>Aiden Leonardo</strong> at quarterback. Damien routed fellow San Gabriel Valley team Charter Oak last week. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='212219' first='Isaiah' last='Arriaza']</strong> has been excellent at quarterback and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='398430' first='Ayden' last='Gutierrez']</strong> is a high-level playmaker. LINCOLN</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Inglewood is 3-1 and its lone loss is against top San Diego team Carlsbad. The Sentinels are playing another top San Diego team in Lincoln this week. [player_tooltip player_id='273557' first='Damon' last='Wrighster'] has been good at quarterback for Inglewood and the team has some elite receivers in [player_tooltip player_id='115468' first='Terrell' last='Bradshaw'] and [player_tooltip player_id='195538' first='Bain' last='Eiseman']. Lincoln is 5-0 and led by Oregon commit [player_tooltip player_id='406658' first='Akili' last='Smith'] Jr. at quarterback with 14 touchdowns and just two interceptions. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='406654' first='Dreyden' last='Garner']</strong> has become a top receiver for Lincoln and <strong>Donald Reed III</strong> has ran the ball well.
