Jackson made key plays all day from coming up and making tackles on the edge in space to sealing the game on pick-playing cover 3. Nasir was all over the field and had a solid defensive performance.
You could make a case that Pruitt is the most underrated player in the state. With the way he is a plus athlete as a defensive back and does it all on offense.
In this game, he did just that. He did everything from making plays in space, in the box, and in coverage on defense. To picking up crucial first downs on the ground and catching Tom’s River’s second touchdown of the game.
Pruitt was a huge reason for the success of Tom’s River North on both sides.
This was the first time Council put on tape him playing at Corner. His first assignment was blazing-fast speedy receiver Lotzeir Brooks Lotzeir Brooks 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Millville | 2025 State NJ .
And for the most part, he held his own making a nice play in coverage on a slant route and making it tough for Brooks when Millville tried to get the ball down the field.
To put this in context, Council was given help over the top for the majority of the day. And this wasn’t all him Micah Ford Micah Ford 6'1" | 205 lbs | ATH Tom Rivers North | 2024 State NJ definitely helped out. But the reps he was left alone were solid. Matter of fact the one play Brooks scored on Council had to come out after he suffered an injury to his ankle.
Council not only flashed high-end movement ability but he has the length and size to go with it. Council may earn himself more offers with high-end play at defensive back, like he showed yesterday.
Conners had a busy day as he was tasked with being the last line of defense against Tom River’s rushing attack.
Considering the circumstances he did the best job he could do. And was a sure tackler in one-on-one tackling situations. He even had a nice pass breakup in the end zone to prevent a touchdown.
Hard to leave off the player who accounted for more than half of Tom’s River’s offense and touchdowns. Ford threw a touchdown and ran for one on his way to a solid offensive day. ,
In addition, to his offensive performance, he made plays and flew around making tackles all over the field. In coverage, he did a great job keeping Brooks’ explosive plays to a minimum as a solid deep safety.
Ford proved why he’s the raining NJ Gatorade Player of the Year.
