It would not seem right if we did not mention a Toms River North Mariner on our list of top defenders, especially given their convincing 33-6 victory at Cherokee. Pruitt made 8 tackles in this contest, including 2 tackles for loss. However, Pruitt was a terror in the secondary as he returned – not one – but two passes the other way for defensive scores. He also added 3 catches for 29 yards on offense.

Pruitt, a standout from Toms River North, is a player that has earned much acclaim heading into his senior season. I happened to get a good look at him during indy drills. What I noted was that he takes each rep with a high level of intensity and plays through the whistle or line. He stumbled briefly, but overcame that hiccup to finish the drill. Pruitt recovered quickly to finish out that rep and did not make the same mistake twice.

is another versatile player coming out of Toms River North in 2024. Doing some special things on offense and defense last season, Jeremiah can pretty much do it all. Offensively he was a threat as a runner and a receiver, combining for over +650 offensive yards and 10 touchdowns. He is an elusive ball carrier and can navigate himself through whatever the defense throws at him.
Defensively, Jeremiah brought in 89 total tackles, 2 sacks, and forced 2 fumbles. He is known as a hard hitting safety that will punish any receiver entering his territory. Not only can he bring the hurt on ball carriers, but he always is in the right position to defend against the pass. With 6 interceptions and 2 of those returned for touchdowns, no QB wants to throw in the direction of Jeremiah.

‘s Batman? Electric in his own right, the 6’1″ 190lb safety out of Toms River North rushed 53 times for 362 yards and scored 8 times on the ground, while catching 14 balls for 292 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively, he made 89 tackles, 13.5 for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 FF, 1 FR, 6 Ints, and scored 3 defensive TD for the Mariners.
Pruitt has outstanding timing when lining up his hits and breaking up pass attempts. He stays tight-to-the-hip in coverage, allowing himself to be in position to undercut routes and jump passes. You can see Pruitt is a student of the game and studies film. On one play we see that he rolls down when jet motion comes his way, forces the carrier to bubble his track, and his teammates rally to make a tackle for a huge loss. Similarly, Pruitt reacts to short passes in the alley very well and is full steam down hill. His pursuit angles could improve, but he makes up for that with his sheer athleticism. I would love to see him roll his hips through contact when making tackles.
Pruitt is a rangy safety who has a lot of great traits. He is a big-time asset that cleans up a lot for the Mariner’s defense. Perhaps we should consider him the dark knight vigilante, lurking in the defense’s secondary to keep justice and order.

is the hardest hitting safety in New Jersey. If he need a player to dislodge the ball from a receiver’s grasp when it matters most, this is your guy. He plays safety very stealthily, positioning himself against receivers that puts him in a better position than his opponent to get to the ball.
Jeremiah is really a triple threat, playing all three phases of the sport. You will find his elusiveness really shine on offense and as a returner. Defensively, he could play either cornerback or safety in college. He has great reaction time and finds his way to the backfield better than most. Jeremiah will be found all over the field his senior year.

is a versatile player capable of making an impact in all facets of the game on offense and defense. He is a hard-hitting, rangy safety that makes offensive players uncomfortable running up the seam or across the middle against him. Against the run, Pruitt shows a knack for sifting through traffic to make a play on the ball carrier. On offense, he uses his speed and great ball skills always looking to make an impact in the passing game. As a rising Senior, expect him to continue to make a major impact on both sides of the ball for Toms River North High School.
