They were the runner-ups in the tournament and ran into a scorching hot CT-Prime team that was unstoppable by every top seed they faced. Jersey Tough won a lot of their games behind one of the top QB prospects in the tournament and the top performing class of 2026 prospect Lamar Best Lamar Best 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Willingboro | 2026 State NJ . Jersey Tough featured a mix of young prospects and those who are headed to play at the next level this fall and they made a tough group to match up against. A team with plenty of big targets offensively they utilized their size advantage with the decision-making of Best to be one of the most consistent offenses over the two days.
Best who was one of the top overall performers in the tournament showcased some impressive arm talent. Best showcased the ability to push the ball down the field with velocity and was not afraid to make tough throws in tight windows. What was impressive about Best was how well he knew his arm what throws he could force and when to make decisions to check the ball down and not take risks. Best would consistently test safeties with his eyes and push them to make decisions on their positioning before he made throws. Best showcased some of the best arm talent throughout the weekend.
Best also displayed some of the best leadership qualities of any player at the tournament. His ability to stay calm and poised through the ups and downs of each game and be a consistent stoic voice for his team throughout the playoff bracket push notably stood out.
Highlights
Council, one of the top 24’s in the tournament is headed to Sacred Heart to play at the next level. Council was a very effective two-way player for Jersey Tough and his length and size were difficult for opposing offenses to throw around and defenses to cover down the field. Council showcased impressive closing speed defensively and the ability to read and react to the quarterback while playing in space as a safety. Offensively Council was a consistent target for Best and his size, length, and ability to catch the ball consistently away from his body made him one of the top targets in the entire tournament. Council was a consistent two-way performer for Jersey Tough all weekend.
Brody Deiter Brody Deiter 6’2″ | 165 lbs | WR Rancocas Valley | 2025 NJ showcased some flashes throughout the tournament but none were more impressive than a championship game where he scored multiple deep touchdowns. Deiter dominated against CT-Prime and was consistently able to create separation and make plays tracking the ball down the field. Deiter showed the ability to use body and head fakes to create separation on routes and corners often a bit on his small cuts and movements. His ability to make tough catches down the field was impressive and overall Deiter showcased when it mattered he was one of the top WR performers this weekend.

Samese Walker Samese Walker NJ was a big target for Jersey Tough and he was a solid two-way performer who was a really impressive consistent player on both sides of the ball. Offensively Samese Walker Samese Walker NJ was a consistent target over the middle. With his size and frame, he was an easy reliable option for Lamar Best Lamar Best 6’0″ | 175 lbs | QB Willingboro | 2026 State NJ and showcased the ability to be a safety outline in the short and intermediate areas. Walker made some solid plays after the catch and I was impressed with his movement skills. Headed to Thiel to play at the next level I think Walker was one of the more consistent performers all weekend making his presence felt in each game I watched Jersey Tough play.
