Drew Rankin Drew Rankin 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB Northville | 2025 State MI | Northville | Hudl
Drew has had an excellent offseason and is poised to breakout this season. Over the past several months, Drew has gotten even more athletic, smarter, and more fundamentally sound. The film below shows a good ability to cover receivers in man and zone, with a few errors here and there. His various offseason highlights on Twitter show profound and obvious improvements in all areas. Look at last season’s film, and expect him to take a step up this fall. Drew makes much fewer mistakes than he did before, and even when he does lose a step, he has the explosiveness and speed to make up for it much of the time. I definitely think Drew is in for a breakout season.
Isaac Poot Isaac Poot 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Rockford | 2025 State MI | Rockford | Hudl
If you read a good amount of our articles, you probably know about Isaac Poot Isaac Poot 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Rockford | 2025 State MI by now. Rangy, athletic, and vocal, he’ll be the sure leader of the Rams secondary this fall. He’s mainly a safety (single-high much of the time) and he shows decent range and good cover ability when a receiver gets close. Sometimes I feel that if Isaac could be a step more reactive as a safety, he’d made a few more big plays. Regardless, I am supremely confident in Isaac’s abilities and I expect him to be a major standout for this Rams defense.
Trace Corlew III | Gladwin | Hudl
Set to be a captain for The Flying G’s, Trace is looking to help defend Gladwin’s State Championship on his 3rd Varsity season. Trace has a lot of good traits with some skills to improve on. First, I like his press during man coverage. He does a great job at staying physical, and when there’s a run, he sheds blocks well. He’s overall good in man coverage, though he oftentimes loses a step but makes up quickly with good speed. In press man coverage against most receivers, he’s solid. I know Trace will perform great during the regular season. I personally can’t wait for the postseason to see what he can do against more skilled teams.
Irving Knott | River Rouge | Hudl
New to River Rouge is Irving Knott, who is a incredibly intriguing DB prospect. The first thing that jumps out at you when researching is Irving’s work ethic and overall fitness. At Renissance, he displayed great athleticism in all three phases and proved he could be a future star. Now ar River Rouge, he’s had a great offseason. Attending several camps and being coached up by the Rouge staff, Irving Knott could be an all-around breakout player depending on how he’s utilized.
Haden Janes Haden Janes 5'8" | 155 lbs | DB Petoskey | 2025 State MI | Petoskey | Hudl
Haden could earn himself some college attention this fall. This is a prospect who thrives when given an opportunity to make a play on the man or ball. His man coverage can use a bit of work, though he has great closing speed and it not afraid to be physical yet fundamental when the ball is thrown his way. Big hits, forcing receiver out of bounds during catch, PBUs, he’s great when the ball is thrown his way. He’s also quite reactive to runs and passes to other receivers.
