Now it’s become a term for players who can be affective at more than one position at a high level. Then you have to add on what attributes one needs to possess. Like speed, quickness, explosiveness, etc. You can even reference an offensive lineman as being athletic if he’s built and plays the position a certain way. Yes, it’s gotten out of hand using this term being an “athlete” loosely, but I can assure you these five players out of the Peach State are athletes in their own right.
The future of Lawson is unpredictable just like his many abilities on the football field. Primarily, you will find him taking snaps behind center, but he can be just as affective at WR, RB, LB and Safety. His proportioned build resembles a young Tebow with way more speed. This past season he caught everyones eye at the Future Stars Camp in which he walked away with MVP honors and proved he has the goods to compete at various positions at a very high level. Last Thursday, Lawson got to suit up for his first real action and helped lead his team to a 36-0 blowout over Thomasville. He threw for over 100 yards and 3 touchdowns. Then ended the game in bully fashion by running over two defenders to reach pay dirt on the ground. I expect this young man to put up video game numbers all year.
Full transparency, there is not enough space to include this young mans accolades, abilities, and future potential in one article. Dexter McCleon Jr. Dexter McCleon Jr. 6’3″ | 180 lbs | ATH Buford | 2028 GA does not sit still long enough to allow grass to grown under his feet. He is a four sport elite athlete. His pedigree speaks for itself as well. I had the pleasure to line up across from his pops in the NFL and he is the real deal and has the big boy ring to prove it. McCleon Jr. is easily pushing the envelope so he can step out of dads shadow and continue his own legacy of success. With rare talent like his, the sky is the limit. He already earned a golden ticket to play in the UA All-American game as a wide receiver, but he has film playing some slot/tight end and defensive end on defense. The kids fast twitch and long stride puts him behind defenders and the precise route running ability and attention to detail separates him in this class. There are many gifted players out there, but when you add work ethic like McCleon Jr. on top of his God given abilities, it’s a wrap! Expect him to have his choice of Universities in multiple sports when its all said and done.
Gavin Kinchen Gavin Kinchen 5’7″ | 140 lbs | ATH Stephenson Middle | 2028 GA is a 5’5 130 pound bolt of lightning. He has the goods to play WR, RB, and somewhere in the secondary. Gavin’s skill set in broad. You can’t miss his shiftiness, quick feet with a go to stutter step that will leave you in cement. Add above average ball skills makes this kid fun to watch. You can line him anywhere on the field and I believe he will make plays. With his low center of gravity he does not go down on the first hit and has great vision to slash across the field while manipulation every defenders pursuit angles. Big play maker in his class.

Mr. Malone is a physical bully measuring in at 6’0 155 lbs. Any time a player puts a blocking highlight first on their reel it should tell you something. This selfless utility player can check off positions like RB, WR, QB, LB, and DE. That’s a lot of opportunities for Brody to play behind his pads and get the best of whoever is in his way to the end zone or quarterback. Tallying up 15 touchdowns last season and falling short of 1,000 all purpose yards is in the rearview of what is possible this year. Brody Malone Brody Malone 6’1″ | 165 lbs | ATH Cambridge | 2028 GA finds ways to win and creates space for his teammates to do so also. His speed is misleading because once he gets the edge he is either gone or will stay in bounds to deliver the first blow. I love how he plays behind his pads. If Brody continues to grow like a weed, it would make sense to see him develop into a TE/DE combo for high school. We’ll see…

Georgia WR of the Year is putting everyone on notice before the first kickoff of the season. Last week he went 3 for 3 in a scrimmage. His first touchdown was a sweep around the right side, then he caught a flat which he took it the distance, and finally added another catch on a bubble that resulted in six points. If this is any indication on what type of season Madoxx Davis Madoxx Davis WR Walton | 2028 GA will have, it’s scary. This multi-sport, multi-position stud is also a National Champ with some of the softest hands at this level I’ve seen. The offseason work is paying off when you see his agility and balance come into play on both sides of the ball. Madoxx isn’t afraid to come downhill and lay some wood with on defense. Primarily his skill set best fits offense, but I know he will makes plays wherever he lines up this fall.
