I have identified five of the best OL prospects in the entire state. Below, I break down the tools & traits that will show why these five linemen are set to be some of the most dominant juniors up front this fall.
Jacob Maiava Jacob Maiava 6’1″ | 270 lbs | OL Liberty | 2025 CA quietly had a solid year playing varsity for Liberty High School last fall. Jacob has been invited to a couple different showcases but I am surprised he has not received more attention from schools in the region. Don’t be surprised when Jacob’s production this fall leads him to be one of the fastest rising 2025 OL prospects.
In pass protection, Jacob shows good football IQ and a solid anchor stoning blitzers that come in his vicinity. A good combination of quickness and power shows exploding off the ball and removing defensive linemen from the point of attack. Good speed, athleticism, and strength show knocking out defenders as a puller in the open field; Jacob’s good combination of tools and experience across the line give him OL versatility at the next level.
Colin Banning Colin Banning 6’3″ | 285 lbs | OL Spring Creek | 2025 State NV is a good-sized, talented two-way prospect from Spring Creek High School. Colin recently received his first offer from the University of Nevada. He also was invited to camps at Fresno State, Notre Dame, and Sacramento State this summer. Be on the lookout for more schools looking for guards to offer Colin before his junior season has finished.
Colin shows next level burst off the ball and a fluid change of direction getting in front of linebackers with ease at the second level. Good length and strength shows extending and moving defensive linemen with no leg drive, just pure upper-body strength. Quick feet, balance, and good flexibility highlight Colin’s next level pass protection potential.
Highlights
Seuseu Alofaituli Seuseu Alofaituli 6’3″ | 295 lbs | OL Bishop Gorman | 2025 State NV is an iOL prospect that is one of a few all-stars along Bishop Gorman’s offensive line. Seuseu, “SJ”, holds twenty-one FBS offers at my last count. It will be fun to watch SJ alongside his talented 2025 teammates this fall. Recruiters across the country will be sure to have eyes on SJ despite playing next to talented prospects on both sides.
Next level power shows in SJ’s initial punch, while good bend gets displayed consistently making contact with good leverage on defensive tackles. Coaches like SJ’s rare combination of strength and acceleration that shows exploding off the ball and removing people from the line of scrimmage. Quick feet and good lateral quickness shows sliding in protection to stop countering pass rushers.
Alai Kalaniuvalu Alai Kalaniuvalu 6’4″ | 295 lbs | OL Bishop Gorman | 2025 State NV comes to Bishop Gorman from Utah and looks to hit the ground running in his first year in Las Vegas. Alai holds thirty scholarship offers at my last count. Don’t think he gets lost in the shuffle amongst Bishop Gorman’s talented offensive line. Alai is set to be one of the most dominant juniors in Nevada the minute game one kicks off this fall.
Alai’s rare explosiveness shows getting to the second level and waiting for play side linebackers to get to the point of attack. Good effort, speed, and strength get displayed when Alai knocks out run defenders with one punch in the open field. Alai’s quickness shows getting off the ball as a backside zone blocker, but rare power shows flattening defensive linemen before he gains lateral leverage on them.
Douglas Utu Douglas Utu 6’5″ | 300 lbs | OL Bishop Gorman | 2025 State NV enters his junior year at Bishop Gorman as the top offensive line prospect in the state. Douglas was the first eighth grader ever offered by Brigham Young University, and he also holds twenty-three separate FBS offers. A dominant junior year could catapult Douglas into the clear-cut #1 prospect for me in Nevada’s 2025 class. I am sure all eyes will be on Douglas up until the second he makes his commitment.
A rare combination of power and athleticism shows in Douglas’ quick, balanced steps before a lightning-fast punch strikes defenders at the second level. Douglas’ good combination of length, quickness, and flexibility shows redirecting to stay in front of pass rushers in protection. Good effort, a strong latch, and elite drive show moving defensive linemen with ease in the run game. Douglas’ great size and foundation of tools as a blocker give him the option to play either tackle or guard in college.
