Kewaunee finished second and made it to Level 4 of the playoffs. Lastly, Bonduel and Sturgeon Bay rounded out the playoff participants from 2022. With a lot of high impact talent returning to the conference, we should see more highly competitive play across the Packerland conference. Before we kickoff the season, let’s go through and pick our Team MVP for each of the Packerland Teams. Coaches, these are kids to ensure are on your recruiting board if they aren’t already. We start with the reigning champs!
Southern Door MVP
Drew is going to be in the running for the top dual sport athlete in WI. He is a dominant basketball player, but before that season tips off we get to watch him lead Southern Door from the QB position. Drew has made an impact on the football team since he was a freshman playing WR. Last season he took over at QB and proved to be an efficient, effective field general. He threw for 1200+ yards and 15 TDs. Drew also ran for 240+ yards and another 10 TDs.
This was not an easy choice. Daoust will be joined by 2024 RB Zack Lynch Zack Lynch 5’11” | 180 lbs | RB Southern Door | 2024 State WI in the backfield who has proven to be a productive weapon. In the end, I went with the dual threat signal caller who handles the ball more often, and will need to step up and help produce even more points after their defense lost very talented seniors.
Kewaunee MVP
Kewaunee put together a great 2022 led by QB Mitchell Thompson and RB Jesse Morales- Hernandez. However, those two have graduated. The athlete I believe will step further into the spotlight because of it is RB Owen Carlson Owen Carlson 5’10” | 190 lbs | RB Kewaunee | 2024 State WI . The ’24 is coming off a 800 yards 12 TD season, so he has already shown he can produce. Now we hopefully get to see what he can do with 100+ carries. The 5’11” 190 lbs athlete has break away speed, very good burst through the hole, and he has a knack for creating the big play. He is one of the top recruits in the conference this season. Make sure this kid is on your recruiting boards.
Highlights
Bonduel MVP
The selection for Bonduel Team MVP is QB Noah Weier Noah Weier 6’2″ | 190 lbs | QB Bonduel | 2024 State WI . The 6’2″ 175 lbs ’24 broke 1,000 passing yards in 2022 to go along with his 13 TDs. He has an arm that can get the ball down the field and good control over his placement. Noah is also an athlete on the ground. He has quick twitch to make the defense miss in the pocket and downfield. Noah also has enough speed to hurt a defense if he catches them in man. Bonduel has graduated their top two rushers from 2022, so Weier will most likely need to shoulder of the offensive output, especially as they get their new running game going. Weier is rising in our rankings update. Keep an eye out for him this fall.
Sturgeon Bay MVP
This was a tough choice to make, and that has me excited for Sturgeon Bay this fall. I could have went with QB Danny Lodl Danny Lodl 6’1″ | 170 lbs | QB Sturgeon Bay | 2024 State WI . He will be back to build on his 1,350+ passing yards. I was also considering leading receiver Patrick Haese Patrick Haese 5’10” | 175 lbs | ATH Sturgeon Bay | 2025 State WI with his 400+ yards in 2022 as well as his impact on defense. However, in the end I had to go with RB/LB Mason Sacotte Mason Sacotte 5’10” | 215 lbs | LB Sturgeon Bay | 2024 State WI .
The 5’10” 215 lbs ’24 is the leading returning rusher and tackler on the team. Defense is where he has stood out most. The ILB is a tackling machine roaming the front seven and chasing down plays outside the tackles. He is a sound tackler, and his physicality carries over to his RB play. It will be interesting to see if his role at RB increases this fall. I’m pumped to see how he ends his career at Sturgeon Bay.

Marinette MVP
Leahland Bertrand Leahland Bertrand 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Marinette | 2024 State WI
Leahland Bertrand Leahland Bertrand 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Marinette | 2024 State WI
My choice for Marinette MVP is also one of my top sleepers in the conference. Leahland Bertrand Leahland Bertrand 5’9″ | 170 lbs | RB Marinette | 2024 State WI is a 5’9″ 170 lbs RB who wins with athleticism. He is a shifty back who can weave through the defense, cut and accelerate suddenly, and his speed is college quality. When Leahland gets in the open field it is clear that he can play at a faster speed than the rest of the field. Bertrand thrives in space, attacking the edges of the defense on offense, and returning kicks. Scenarios where he can see the field, use blocks, and set up defenders. I’m excited to see how he wraps up his HS career.
Mishicot MVP
Logan Marquardt
Logan Marquardt
Logan did it all for Mishicot in 2022, and should do more of the same in 2023. That makes him an easy choice for our team MVP prediction. In 2022, Logan led the team in passing, rushing, tackles. He put up 700+ yards passing, 400+ yards rushing, and 70+ tackles. If the 5’8″ 170 lbs incoming senior can improve on those numbers then Mishicot will be in position to build on their 3-6 record in 2022.
Oconto MVP
Kyle Bowman
Kyle Bowman
Another do-it-all athlete coming out of the Packerland conference is 2024 ATH Kyle Bowman. Kyle led the team in rushing with over 800 yards and 6 TDs. He also was second with 12 catches, and led the team with 60 tackles. Kyle will need to continue his big impact on the team, but he will have help. Oconto also returns their leading passer, ’25 Cooper Campshure. It will be interesting to see how the two pair together with an offseason under their belt, and varsity experience.
Peshtigo MVP
Nathan Schoenebeck
Nathan Schoenebeck
Peshtigo is looking to move on from a 1-8 season in 2022. To build up their program they need to focus on the basics. Get bigger, faster, and stronger off the field. On the field, control the line of scrimmage. A major factor in both of those areas is the 6′ 225 lbs OL Nathan Schoenebeck. Nathan is undersized, but the kid is very effective at pulling and closing quickly on DL. That allows him to get good position, and he runs his feet on contact to create a push despite not having good size. He can help turn this team around if he can take a leadership role, and set the tone in the trenches this fall.
