Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
Stats: 8 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 INTrnThe senior LB out of Sturgeon Bay has been putting together a gritty season. He has played through a banged up ankle, and still finding ways to help his team wins. That includes making the clutch INT grab to win the Week 4 game vs Marinette. On the play, Mason drops into a zone, sees a man heading for his zone, and finds himself right in position to jump the route. Despite the injury, the 5’10” 215 lbs senior still chases plays sideline to sideline. Sacotte is a high motor, high effort player. This kid wants it.

This was a tough choice to make, and that has me excited for Sturgeon Bay this fall. I could have went with QB
Danny Lodl

. He will be back to build on his 1,350+ passing yards. I was also considering leading receiver

with his 400+ yards in 2022 as well as his impact on defense. However, in the end I had to go with RB/LB

The 5’10” 215 lbs ’24 is the leading returning rusher and tackler on the team. Defense is where he has stood out most. The ILB is a tackling machine roaming the front seven and chasing down plays outside the tackles. He is a sound tackler, and his physicality carries over to his RB play. It will be interesting to see if his role at RB increases this fall. I’m pumped to see how he ends his career at Sturgeon Bay.

The 5’10” 205 lbs LB out of Sturgeon Bay is currently recovering from foot surgery following at injury he sustained at a camp this spring. He will be ready to roll by the time the season rolls around. I expect to see the tackling machine return to his high level of production this fall. While he is undersized, I believe Mason is a next level prospect. Primarily for the D3 level at this point. On tape, Sacotte has a natural knack for being able to fly around the box without interference from the OL. His ability to find the ball and attack downhill quickly makes it hard for the OL to get up to him to make blocks. Even when he does have to take on blocks, Mason has shown he has the power to stack up a FB in the hole, shed him, and make the tackle. Keep an eye on him this fall.
