Brave 8 Invitational Preview

<p>Eight quality programs in Southern California will head to St. John Bosco High in Bellflower on Saturday to compete in the Brave 8 Invitational passing tournament.</p>   <p>Here is a quick look at the eight teams that will compete:</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>CORONA DEL MAR</strong></h2>   <p>Corona del Mar looked better than I anticipated at the Battle at the Beach passing tournament last week. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='929542' first='Kaleb' last='Annett']</strong> is one of the best senior quarterbacks in Orange County and [player_tooltip player_id='347158' first='Zach' last='Giuliano'] is a matchup nightmare in the redzone. <strong>Christian Brooks</strong> and <strong>Thomas Telesco</strong> are two quality leaders on the defense.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Sunset_Rewind/status/1676094705229242368?s=20 </div></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>TESORO</strong></h2>   <p>Tesoro competed at the Air Strike Tournament at Dana Hills and has been competing in four-way passing league matchups with local schools. [player_tooltip player_id='482560' first='Cash' last='O'Byrne'] is the returning starting quarterback for Tesoro with offers from Navy and San Diego State. He has been visiting the Ivy League schools this summer and competing at camps. [player_tooltip player_id='595828' first='Travis' last='Wood'] is the returning running back who will get a lot of touches this fall. <strong>Todd Nelson</strong> is a big target who could be Tesoro's leading receiver this fall. He won the Elite 11 Finals and is headed to Alabama. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1128336' first='Mason' last='Walsh'] </strong>is back at running back after having almost 1300 yards last season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='424976' first='Griffin' last='Rosenbloom']</strong> is a lengthy receiver with some offers. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='282717' first='Madden' last='Iamaleava'] didn't play at the Battle at the Beach because of a volleyball conflict. Colorado State commit [player_tooltip player_id='147762' first='Jordan' last='Ross'] made some spectacular catches. If Iamaleava plays, Warren is as good as anybody in a passing league setting.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>MATER DEI CATHOLIC</strong></h2>   <p>Mater Dei Catholic has won two straight CIF-San Diego Section Division 1 championships. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='406722' first='Kartell' last='Purvis']</strong> is expected to be the junior starting quarterback for the Crusaders. [player_tooltip player_id='273562' first='Anthony' last='McMillian'] is back at running back and committed to San Diego State. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='398494' first='Johnny' last='Scott']</strong> may be the leading receiver for Mater Dei Catholic. JOHN BOSCO</strong></h2>   <p>Bosco is loaded at every position on defense, particularly at linebacker with [player_tooltip player_id='115443' first='Kyngstonn' last='Viliamu-Asa'], [player_tooltip player_id='273572' first='Khmori' last='House'] and [player_tooltip player_id='115469' first='Jordan' last='Lockhart']. The secondary is very good behind them too and teams had a very hard time scoring against them at the Battle at the Beach. [player_tooltip player_id='115455' first='Caleb' last='Sanchez'] was very good in moments at the Battle at the Beach at quarterback. [player_tooltip player_id='273584' first='Dylan' last='Mills'] has serious arm talent and is headed to Villanova next year. [player_tooltip player_id='195580' first='Broderick' last='Redden'] is emerging as one of the top tight ends in Orange County. [player_tooltip player_id='115478' first='Zacharyus' last='Williams'] is the top receiver for Serra and he has some major offers including UCLA.
