With the 2023 high school football season quickly approaching, it is time for some rankings updates! For the state of Kentucky, the updated Top 200 rankings for the talented 2024 class have been posted. With that being said, I will be taking the next couple weeks to breakdown these updated rankings by position. After already covering the offensive side of the ball, I have now turned my attention to the defensive side of the ball. With the defensive line and linebackers already being covered, I will wrap up the defensive side of the ball with our top defensive backs in the class of 2024 in the state of Kentucky.

As a junior, Lowe played a key role in the Broncos winning their first state championship title, finishing with 15 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and two interceptions (limited snaps due to blowout wins). He is a lockdown corner on the outside that thrives in man coverage. Lowe has shown the ability to open up and run with receivers to mirror their routes and break on the ball quickly to make a play when it is thrown his way. Against the run, Lowe has shown that he can read the play quickly and come downhill to make tackles in the open field. Jeremiah currently holds a long list of offers and I expect more to come his way as he is a true Power 5 caliber corner.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["422905"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"Joining Lowe in the very talented Frederick Douglass secondary is [player_tooltip player_id='422905' first='Terrion' last='Hicks']. Hicks had a solid junior year (limited reps like Lowe), finishing with 23 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Terrion lines up at the opposite corner where he has proven to be very reliable against the run. He plays with a ton of physicality, showing the ability to shed blocks in a hurry and get to the ball to make tackles in the open field. In pass coverage, he has shown the ability to thrive in both man and zone coverage. He does a great job of reading route combinations and when the ball is thrown his way, he breaks on the pass in a hurry to make a play. Terrion is committed to Northwestern where I see him developing into a key piece of their secondary once he gets there.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["468474"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='468474' first='Beni' last='Mwamba'] is an incoming senior defensive back that has quickly climbed up our rankings. He had a solid junior year, finishing with 36 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one interception. Beni lines up on the outside at corner where he is very impressive in man coverage. He has shown the ability to open up and use his speed to run with receivers to mirror their routes. When the ball is thrown his way, Mwamba uses his athleticism to attack the ball at its highest point to make a play. He is also reliable against the run, showing the ability to come downhill to provide support and make tackles in the open field. Beni currently holds an offer from Dartmouth and I expect more to come his way as he has received a lot of college interest and has the talent to play at the Division I level.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["423720"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='423720' first='Montel' last='Campbell'] is a defensive back that has been high on our radar for a while now. He had a strong junior year, finishing with 76 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and three interceptions. Campbell lines up at safety where he is very reliable against both the pass and the run. In pass coverage, he does a great job of reading the play and breaking on the ball with perfect timing to catch interceptions in stride. He returned one interception for a touchdown this past season. Against the run, Campbell does a great job of filling the lane to provide support and finishes his tackles with a ton of physicality. Campbell doesn't currently hold any offers but he definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level and has received a solid amount of college interest.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["381906"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"To wrap up our top five defensive backs in the class of 2024 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='381906' first='Wick' last='Dotson']. Dotson is coming off a strong junior year in which he finished with 70 tackles, two tackles for loss, five interceptions, and one fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Wick is a true ballhawk at safety, showing the ability to read the quarterback and break on the ball with perfect timing to come away with the interception. When the ball is thrown short, he has shown the ability to come downhill in a hurry to make the tackle before the receiver can turn up the field. Dotson is also very reliable against the run, showing the ability to fill the lane and make tackles in the open field. Wick doesn't currently hold any offers but I expect some to come his way soon as he has received some college interest and has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":5,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-64b7086d874f6"} /-->
