Below the surface there are some receivers that could be do for breakout seasons. Here is part one of the list of sleeper receivers.
Nico Mancini Nico Mancini 5’11” | 170 lbs | WR Foothill | 2025 CA got some varsity reps last season and was a top junior varsity receiver. He showed athleticism by having one of the best times in the L drill at the Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase in January.
Many of his varsity routes were hitches, slants or quick outs, but he showed the ability to get open deep at the junior varsity level. Foothill has some talent back at receiver next season, but Mancini could be the top junior receiver.
Highlights
Deacon Moss
Deacon Moss
Moss is undersized, but a good route runner who Irvine loves to give targets to.
Irvine does a good job using him on crossing and wheel routes to create mismatches. He has the speed to create space in the open field and to make plays after the catch.
Moss was the leading receiver at Irvine last season with 418 yards on 26 catches with three touchdowns.
Nolan Olivares
Nolan Olivares
Olivares led Fountain Valley in receiving last season with 352 yards on 21 catches with four touchdowns.
On the first play of his highlight reel, he beats a guy in man coverage for a 74-yard touchdown. He has good awareness of where he is on the field and good body control.
Maverick Young
Maverick Young
Young caught 20 passes for 259 yards with a touchdown last season and also made big plays on special teams and defense.
He’s good at adjusting his route to the defense and catching 50/50 balls. The reason I think he could breakout this season is because quarterback Max Ruff Max Ruff 6’2″ | 175 lbs | QB St. Margaret’s Episcopal | 2024 State CA likes throwing to him. There were multiple plays on his film where Young is the third option on the play and Ruff still finds him.
